Summary: This paper focuses on clarifying the mechanisms of the microstructure influencing the acid corrosion and mechanical characteristics of Nickel-base composite coatings. The formation mechanisms of the amorphous phase of flat particles during the plasma spray process were studied, and the corrosion structure and phase evolution of the coating in the accelerated corrosion experiment were directly visualized. Finally, the mechanical properties of the amorphous NiCrBSi coatings were measured to elucidate the relative influence of the surface features on acid corrosion responses and wear resistance.

Summary: A new WC-Cr3C2-CoNi coating was successfully fabricated on a steel substrate using thermal spraying and an alumina-assisted pre-alloying treatment. The optimized content of Cr3C2 in the cermet coating was determined based on wear and corrosion property comparisons with conventional WC-based coatings. The results showed the formation of a (Co, Ni)6(W,Cr)6C solid-solution binder phase due to the pre-alloying treatment, resulting in complete metallurgical bonding between carbides and the binder phase. The resultant coatings exhibited exceptional wear and corrosion resistance.

Summary: The microstructural evolution and corrosion behavior of high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) sprayed Alloy718-nano Al2O3 composite coatings were studied. The coating with 30 wt.% nano-Al2O3 particles exhibited the highest microhardness and corrosion resistance, showing a maximum decrease in the electrochemically active area associated with this coating.

Summary: Cold sprayed zinc coatings were deposited on mild steel substrate and their microstructure and properties were evaluated. The results showed that cold sprayed coatings performed better than coatings from other techniques, primarily due to improved inter-splat bonding. Finite element analysis also supported these findings.

Summary: The effect of a nanoalumina sealant treatment on the long-term corrosion behavior of Al-based coatings was studied. The sealing treatment effectively reduces the corrosion current density and improves the impedance values of all coatings by filling the defects in the coating. The sealed Al-based coatings are effective in preventing long-term corrosion in marine environments.

Summary: The aim of this study is to improve the understanding of the effect of cooling rate on the microstructure of high-entropy alloys, focusing on high-entropy alloy coatings. The microstructures of coatings deposited at different temperatures were compared with the microstructures of equivalent bulk high-entropy alloy and powder. The results showed that low and medium temperature coatings and powder consisted of a BCC microstructure, while high temperature coatings had a more complex microstructure with different phases.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of spraying potential on the phase composition, microstructure, hardness, wettability, and corrosion performance of amorphous coatings (ACs) deposited by arc-spraying technique. The results show that ACs with denser microstructure, higher microhardness, lower surface free energy exhibit better corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of the coatings is closely related to the surface hydrophobicity, which is mainly governed by the microstructure of the coatings.

Summary: The main objective of this research is to predict the lifetime of self-supporting flame-sprayed Al2O3 and Al2O3-ZrO2-TiO2 materials under constant load, revealing differences in flexural strength, energy release, and subcritical crack growth parameters between the two materials. However, the characteristic lifetime is not significantly different. The conclusion drawn is that the lifetime performance under constant load application is governed by the flame-spray microstructure.

Summary: MXene coatings on pipe steel exhibit excellent hydrogen resistance and corrosion protection by forming a barrier against diffusion, with hydrogen permeability of one third of the substrate and decreased diffusion coefficient. The concentration of the d-MXene colloidal suspension determines the thickness of a single coating, while surface damage caused by the suspension may limit improvements in hydrogen resistance.

Summary: Thermally sprayed Cr40Co40Ni20 coatings were produced by HVOF and HVAF, forming chromia and spinel compounds upon oxidation at high temperatures. Chromia formed at the inner layer and spinel at the outer layer. HVAF coatings showed less oxidation compared to HVOF coatings. However, the formation of spinel and oxide in the coatings led to regions susceptible to corrosion in chloride-rich electrolyte.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of substituting aluminum for iron on OPC clinker production, finding that Fe to Al replacement did not substantially affect melt formation at usual production temperatures. The substitution promoted the formation of alite and ferrite while reducing the formation of aluminate and belite in clinker phase assemblage. The Fe-rich cements showed longer setting times and slightly lower mechanical strength.
