Summary: Latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection promotes undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPCs) by inducing cellular proliferation and inhibiting spontaneous differentiation through the activation of YAP and TAZ. LMP1 enhances YAP and TAZ activity by reducing serine phosphorylation and increasing Src kinase-mediated phosphorylation of YAP. Knockdown of YAP and TAZ reduces proliferation and promotes differentiation in EBV-infected cells. Ibrutinib restores spontaneous differentiation and inhibits proliferation of EBV-infected cells, suggesting a potential therapeutic approach for treating NPCs.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of miR-137 on the biological cell function of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells. Clinical samples and cell lines were used to detect the expression level of miR-137 and identify TWIST1 as a target. Up-regulation of miR-137 resulted in decreased TWIST1 expression and inhibited cell functions such as proliferation, invasion, migration, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The findings suggest that miR-137 could be a potential therapeutic target for NPC.

Summary: Leptin is highly expressed in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, promoting cell growth and invasion by regulating cell cycle, glycolysis, and EGFR signaling. miR-874-3p influences the progression of NPC by modulating Leptin expression, affecting cell growth, motility, and metabolism.

Summary: This study revealed that the expression levels of miR-372-3p were upregulated in placental tissues from patients with PE, especially in those with early-onset PE. In vitro analysis demonstrated that miR-372-3p overexpression inhibited trophoblast cell migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The study also found that miR-372-3p is sponged by twist1 and downregulating twist1 expression can rescue the inhibitory effects of miR-372-3p overexpression.

Summary: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is associated with various malignant diseases, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The virus-encoded oncoprotein LMP1 promotes the development of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in NPC by activating the PI3K/mTOR/Akt signaling pathway. Different mTOR pathways, mTORC1 and mTORC2, contribute to the acquisition of distinct CSC characteristics and cooperate to regulate NPC metastasis.

Summary: RNA interference (RNAi) treatment is an important therapeutic approach in cancer by downregulating target-oncogenes, but its clinical efficacy still requires further investigation. The mechanism of LMP1 as a proto-oncogene in nasopharyngeal carcinoma is still unclear.

Summary: This study found that circCRIM1 is upregulated in NPC cells and silencing circCRIM1 can significantly inhibit the malignant behavior of NPC cells. miR-34c-5p was found to have a binding relationship with circCRIM1, and FOSL1 was identified as a downstream target of miR-34c-5p.

Summary: The implications of miRNAs for animal health management in livestock are not well understood. This study identified changes in miR-10b levels in the jejunum of piglets post-weaning and found that mice lacking miR-10b were more susceptible to DSS administration, showing worse survival, greater weight loss, more severe tissue damage, and increased intestinal permeability. The increased disease severity was associated with enhanced macrophage infiltration and elevated pro-inflammatory mediators and immunoglobulins. These findings may lead to new strategies for improving swine health and production.

Summary: This study demonstrated up-regulated expression of CRNDE and CCND2 in NPC tissues/cell lines, while miR-545-5p was down-regulated. CRNDE knock-down or miR-545-5p over-expression reduced NPC proliferative, migrative, and invasive properties, promoted apoptosis/altered cell cycle, and inhibited CCND2 expression. Multiple-level investigations revealed CRNDE to serve as a sponge for miR-545-5p and target CCND2 within NPC.

Summary: The study identifies miR-10b-5p as a potential pro-proliferative microRNA in fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC). Overexpression of DNAJB1-PRKACA leads to upregulation of miR-10b-5p in multiple human cell models. Inhibition of miR-10b reduces metabolic activity, proliferation, and anchorage-independent growth in cells derived from patients.

Summary: This study reported the fabrication and characterization of a gastric dressing composed of gelatine, chitosan, and pomegranate peel extract. Gamma-irradiation induced structural changes in the dressing, resulting in the appearance of new active centers and cross-linking phenomenon. Additionally, gamma-rays enhanced the scavenging and chelating power activities of the dressing, while inhibiting antibacterial and anti-biofilm activities. The dressing exhibited high hemocompatibility and anti-inflammatory activity. In vivo, the dressing showed healing effects on gastric histopathological lesions.
