Summary: Colonoscopy is a safe, accurate, and timely examination for postoperative lower gastrointestinal bleeding in children with Hirschsprung's Disease. It helps diagnose the causes of hematochezia and provides accurate treatment options. All patients had uneventful recovery during the follow-up period, demonstrating the efficacy of colonoscopy in this subset of patients.

Summary: Neuroimmune pathways play a crucial role in regulating inflammatory response. Nerve cells control the functions of immune cells through neurotransmitters, thus participating in the inflammatory immune response. Hirschsprung's disease (HD) is a congenital abnormality in intestinal neurons, and its associated enterocolitis (HAEC) is a common complication that significantly impacts the lives of children. Neuroimmune regulation is a vital mechanism in the occurrence and development of enterocolitis, yet there is limited research on its role in Hirschsprung's disease-associated enterocolitis. This paper summarizes the interaction between intestinal nerve cells and immune cells, reviews the neuroimmune regulation mechanism of HAEC, and discusses its potential clinical applications.

Summary: We described a case of a child with intermediate anorectal malformation who developed Hirschsprung's disease after corrective surgery. The patient experienced recurrent postoperative symptoms, but after undergoing pull-through procedure, the symptoms improved and weight gain was observed during follow-up. This case highlights the importance of considering Hirschsprung's disease in patients with severe constipation or enteritis following ARM correction.

Summary: This study revealed that Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis mainly occurs in infants (0-2 years) and is associated with dysbiosis of intestinal microbiota, while no such association was found in older patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical features and risk factors associated with neonatal Hirschsprung's disease (HD)-associated bowel perforation (perforated HD). It found that colitis and elevated inflammation indicators were risk factors for bowel perforation. Therefore, timely treatment of colitis is crucial for preventing bowel perforation.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of surgeon and hospital HD operative volumes on surgical outcomes for neonatal Hirschsprung's disease. The results showed no significant associations between operative volumes and readmission or reoperation rates for infants with HD. Future research is needed to explore the relationship between operative volumes and functional outcomes following surgery for HD.

Summary: The Santulli procedure (SP) improves bowel recovery in congenital intestinal malformations, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and bowel perforation. Our study found that 95% of patients achieved anal-stool passing within 9 days after SP, and after a median follow-up of 2.9 years, 90% of patients achieved full oral intake and had normal bowel movement.

Summary: This study found a correlation between the degree of mucosal nerve fiber innervation and enterocolitis development in HSCR patients. Macrophages in high-fiber tissue expressed less interleukin 23, potentially indicating a role in inflammation control. Patients lacking mucosal nerve fibers showed microbial dysbiosis and higher incidence of postoperative enterocolitis.

Summary: The study reveals the complexity of lipid expression profiles in exosomes derived from preterm and term human milk. The top 50 lipids identified in the exosomes regulate intestinal epithelial cell function via the ERK/MAPK pathway, providing novel mechanistic insight on how human milk prevents the development of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS) infections in young infants. The results showed that invasive NTS infections were not common among young infants, but the antimicrobial resistance had increased. The study suggested reconsidering routine antibiotic treatment for infants aged 1 to 3 months with NTS infections.
