Summary: Vehicle technologies play a crucial role in addressing the crash risk faced by teen drivers, especially with specific features designed for teen drivers. The use of these technologies has the potential to significantly reduce injuries and crashes among teen drivers, highlighting the importance of wider acceptance and accessibility.

Summary: Standard driver education in the United States lacks advanced driving skills. We conducted a study to investigate the impact of a one-day advanced driver training course on crash-avoidance skills among newly licensed teen drivers. The intervention group showed significant improvement in spin avoidance skills compared to the waitlist comparison group. Further research is needed to explore the potential of advanced driver training in improving driver education and safety.

Summary: This study examines the contribution of graduated driver licensing (GDL) restrictions, sex, age, roadway circumstances, and citation history to teen drivers' crash culpability. The results show that crash culpability among teen drivers is primarily associated with sex, age, location, and GDL stage.

Summary: This study aims to examine the risk of death among crash-involved teenage drivers. The results showed that teenage drivers carrying multiple teenage passengers were twice as likely to die compared to driving alone, and the risk increased seven times when carrying a combination of teenage and young adult passengers. The presence of adult passengers aged 35-64 years resulted in the lowest risk of death for teenage drivers.

Summary: Research on parental norms regarding teen driver distractions is lacking, and this paper examines the discrepancies in teens' perception of their parents' engagement and approval of distractions compared to the parents' reports. It also investigates the differences between parents' perception of their teen's distraction engagement and the teen's self-report. The study found that teens who engage more frequently in distractions have misperceptions about their parents' behavior and vice versa. These findings suggest the importance of interventions for both teens and parents.

Summary: This study examined the effectiveness of in-vehicle feedback based on peer social norms in reducing distraction among teen drivers, finding that normative interventions can improve driving performance, while tailoring feedback based on gender does not provide additional benefits.

Summary: Teen drivers are a major concern in traffic safety due to their high rate of involvement in fatal and injury crashes. This study aims to investigate the variations in the effect of risk factors on crash severity outcomes among teen drivers. The findings suggest that the significance and impact of variables vary within clusters and between crash severity levels.

Summary: This study found that parental attitudes towards ADAS influence how and when they introduce these systems to their teen drivers. While some parents have concerns about the impact of ADAS on driving safety and skill acquisition, most believe that ADAS have a positive impact on teen safety. The timing of introducing ADAS to teens varies among parents.

Summary: The paper introduces the multimodal driver monitoring (MDM) dataset, collected from 59 subjects performing various tasks to train algorithms for monitoring driver behavior. The dataset tracks head movements using the Fi-Cap device and captures driver gaze and facial expressions for accurate analysis of driver actions.

Summary: This study replicates a cross-sectional study to explore how young Latina teen viewers identify with and socially compare to teen mothers on MTV's Teen Mom, and assess the effects on attitudes toward teen pregnancy. The findings indicate that upward social comparison and identification are associated with positive attitudes in eighth grade, while downward social comparison is associated with negative attitudes in ninth grade.

Summary: Defining driver behavior profiles is crucial for creating unique and tailored driving experiences. This paper proposes a personalized approach to represent the dynamic profile as a graph, using clustering techniques to learn the graph states from driver data. The feasibility of the approach is demonstrated by applying it to driving datasets and validating the quality of clustering.

Summary: Professional driver education and training aims to improve the driving skills of young people for safer driving, but research has shown limited effectiveness. To address this, the Goals for Driver Education (GDE) framework was developed to broaden the influences on driving in education and training. The Perceptions of Driver Education Scale (PDES) was created to understand the important teachings for novice drivers as perceived by parents and novice drivers themselves.

Summary: Women in the United States are more likely to become mothers as teens compared to women in other wealthy countries. Teen births are often unintended, leading to debates on whether better sex education and contraceptive information can reduce teen births. This study provides population-level causal evidence that federal funding for more comprehensive sex education reduced teen birth rates by over 3%.
