Summary: A study found that nearly one in ten patients in clinical practice retransitioned from biosimilar to originator etanercept. The main reason for retransitioning was a (perceived) loss of effect, and patients who visited the rheumatology department more frequently were more likely to retransition.

Summary: The incidence of inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, has been found to increase after COVID-19. A study was conducted on a large admixed Colombian population to assess the incidence trends. The analysis revealed a significant increase in incidence during the pandemic period, particularly in the first year post-COVID. Women in their fifties were found to be more susceptible.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed research on the incidence of SpA subtypes over the past 25 years, finding significant differences in methodology among studies leading to a wide range of incidence rates for all subtypes. More research from different populations using specific classification criteria is needed for a more accurate understanding of SpA epidemiology.

Summary: The nationwide incidence of RA and PsA in Norway is similar to other Nordic countries, slightly higher than previous Norwegian studies. Higher education levels are associated with lower incidence of both RA and PsA. Most RA/PsA patients in the study used synthetic DMARDs, with a smaller percentage using biologic DMARDs.

Summary: This study analyzed adults diagnosed with chikungunya infection between 2015 and 2020 at a medical center. It found that 40.4% of the patients developed chronic chikungunya arthritis. The initial number of joints with arthritis, initial VAS scores, and female sex were predictive factors for chronic chikungunya arthritis.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the factors associated with poor medication adherence among children with rheumatic diseases. The study found that enthesitis-related arthritis (ERA), polyarticular JIA, disease duration of more than 5 years, active disease, and high PRAQ scores were predictors of poor drug adherence. The most frequent reasons for inadequate medication adherence were forgetfulness and unawareness about the importance of disease control and consistency with treatment.

Summary: This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the reliability of AMVBF in children with JIA and healthy children. The results showed that AMVBF measurements have good to excellent reliability in children with JIA and moderate to excellent reliability in healthy children. Values above 11.4N might be a clinically relevant change over time in children with JIA.

Summary: IBD development in JIA is associated with enthesitis-related arthritis and a family history of autoimmune disease. An increased incidence of IBD was observed with etanercept therapy regardless of concomitant methotrexate use.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between dental caries and malnutrition in children. The results suggest that the development of pulpally involved carious lesions has an effect on wasting outcomes, but not on stunting. This highlights the importance of oral health promotion and preventive measures in low-income settings to promote normal growth and development among preschool children.

Summary: This study aims to describe the incidence and mortality rates of children receiving home mechanical ventilation (HMV) in Canada using population-based data, as well as examine the associations of demographic and clinical variables with mortality. The study found that the incidence of pediatric HMV approvals increased by 37% over a 14-year period. Mortality was associated with noninvasive ventilation, low-income families, neurologic impairment complex chronic conditions, HMV initiation at ages 11 to 17, and higher healthcare costs before HMV initiation.
