Summary: The study aimed to compare the performance of WHO and population-based references in screening for hydrocephalus in infants, with results showing that combining PB references with the Delta HC SDS parameter yielded the best screening accuracy. The accuracy of the WHO standard could be improved by customizing screening cut-offs and combining screening parameters.

Summary: There is a connection between physical illness and mental health difficulties, and young people with chronic health conditions are more likely to experience mental health difficulties. Pediatric settings primarily focus on physical health outcomes and functioning. In terms of functioning, the emphasis is on quality of life, measures of emotional well-being, and perceptions of personal change, which can vary between individuals. Goal-based outcome measurement may be considered as a supplement to standardized and diagnostic measures.

Summary: Psychiatric disorders are prevalent among children and adolescents, and the COVID-19 pandemic has further increased the demand for mental health services in this population. Due to limitations in infrastructure, finances, and staff in child and adolescent mental health services, there is a need to adapt and advance current models of service provision. This review provides an internationally informed overview of best-practice strategies and care models for child and adolescent mental health, aiming to assist decision-makers in implementing effective care models.

Summary: This review aimed to identify factors that influence the translation of shared cancer follow-up care into clinical practice. The study found that reciprocal clinical information sharing between oncologists and general practitioners is crucial, and the responsibility of care should be shared with the overseeing oncologist. General practitioners need to have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide cancer follow-up care. Clinical management guidelines and rapid referral are needed to support general practitioners in providing shared follow-up care. Continuity of care and patient satisfaction are vital for shared care.

Summary: The objective of this study was to identify the approaches and strategies used for ensuring cultural appropriateness, intervention functions, and theoretical constructs of school-based smoking prevention interventions in low-income and middle-income countries. The study found that deep cultural adaptation, raising awareness of smoking consequences, improving refusal skills, and using role models and peer educators were key factors in effective smoking prevention interventions.

Summary: Young maternal age, maternal adversity, and mental health concerns are associated with an increased risk of infant maltreatment, while refugee status appears to be protective. The odds of maltreatment increase with a higher number of maternal risk factors. The association between maternal age and maltreatment persists until the age of 28.

Summary: Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare fibroblastic mesenchymal tumors that can develop in any organ. While the majority are benign, 10-30% of cases can exhibit aggressive and malignant features. The exact etiology of SFTs is unknown. Surgical resection is the preferred treatment regardless of the tumor's histological features.

Summary: A retrospective multicenter study was conducted on boys diagnosed with delayed puberty in central Sweden from 2013 to 2015, with the study finding that puberty nomograms may aid in diagnosing pubertal disorders in boys and that the majority of boys with delayed puberty undergo biochemical or radiological examinations, with only a small percentage being found to have underlying diseases, emphasizing the need for structured clinical practice guidelines for this patient group.

Summary: This study identified the barriers and enablers to implementing clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) recommendations in primary care. The findings suggest that policy-driven strategies should be developed to optimize resource allocation, promote integrated care models, establish well-coordinated multidisciplinary networks, increase technical support, encourage healthcare providers and patients' engagement, standardize guideline reporting, enhance education and training, and stimulate motivations to facilitate the uptake of CPGs recommendations in primary care.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether the use of hearing aids could improve the health-related quality of life for individuals with hearing loss. The results showed that after wearing hearing aids, adults with mild hearing loss experienced improvements in general health and less bodily pain. Specific subgroups also reported improvements in social functioning and general health. However, causation remains uncertain due to methodological limitations.
