Summary: Regular emollient application during the first year of life does not prevent the development of atopic dermatitis. A standardized skin care regimen does not delay skin barrier development or cause side effects.

Summary: This study aimed to validate the diagnostic efficacy of three sets of AD criteria in adult and elderly Chinese populations in a hospital setting. The Chinese criteria of atopic dermatitis for children (CCAD) showed high sensitivity and favorable diagnostic efficacy, making it suitable for the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis in adult and elderly Chinese populations, particularly for mild and moderate cases of the condition.

Summary: This study describes the longitudinal care pathways of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), including healthcare management, treatment patterns, and disease progression. The results show that healthcare contacts and AD treatments are concentrated in the year when managed AD care is initiated and decrease significantly thereafter. This suggests that patients with AD may be undertreated and monitored infrequently.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the preventive effects of oral administration of probiotics on the incidence and severity of atopic dermatitis (AD) in infants. The results showed that adding probiotics could favor the establishment of intestinal microecological balance in the neonatal period, thereby reducing the incidence of AD, decreasing the levels of serum immune indexes, and alleviating the severity of the disease.

Summary: Epidemiological data on atopic dermatitis (AD) are lacking in nearly half of the countries worldwide. The global prevalence of AD is estimated to be 2.6% with a total population of 204.05 million people. AD affects both adults and children, with prevalence rates of 2.0% and 4.0% respectively. Females have a higher prevalence of AD compared to males.

Summary: This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the relationship between environmental determinants and the risk of developing atopic dermatitis (AD) in the first four years of a child's life, including individual microbiome and immune responses. Through clinical research and biochemical analysis, the researchers hope to identify different risk factors for AD onset and exacerbation, as well as relevant biomarkers.

Summary: Diagnosing atopic dermatitis (AD) in infants is challenging, the study found that using the UK Working Party (UKWP) and Hanifin and Rajka (H&R) criteria can determine the incidence and persistence of eczema and AD. The odds of AD were lower when eczema first appeared at 6 or 12 months, and higher in infants with eczema at multiple visits.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease, and its pathogenesis involves the dysregulation of neuroimmune circuits. Abnormal neuroimmune circuits can lead to inflammation, pruritus, pain, and skin barrier dysfunction. Understanding neuroimmune circuits and neuronal signaling is crucial for controlling the pathological mechanisms of atopic dermatitis.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the duration of continuous breastfeeding of infants within 2 years of age in China and explore intervention strategies to promote breastfeeding duration. A self-made electronic questionnaire was used to collect data on breastfeeding duration and influencing factors from individual, family, and social support levels. The findings showed that breastfeeding duration in China is generally short, with a low proportion of mothers breastfeeding until the recommended age of 2 years and above. Multiple factors at different levels influence breastfeeding duration. It is suggested to improve the situation through health education, system security improvement, and enhanced social support.
