Summary: This study investigated the patterns and prognosis of distant organ metastasis in neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix (NECC). The results showed that NECC was prone to single and multi-site metastases, and distant metastasis was an independent predictor of poor prognosis in NECC patients. Additionally, surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy were found to improve the overall survival of patients with distant organ metastases.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the risk factors and prognostic factors of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and predict the survival of IDC patients with metastasis. Risk factors included age, race, marital status, income, geographic region, grade, T stage, N stage, subtype, surgery, and radiotherapy, while prognostic factors included age, race, marital status, income, geographic region, grade, T stage, N stage, subtype, surgery, and chemotherapy. A nomogram was established with a C-index of 0.701, showing good consistency between actual observation and prediction. Survival curves varied significantly among different metastatic patterns.

Summary: Local radiotherapy to metastatic lesions might be a protective factor for patients with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (mNPC) as shown in the study involving 109 patients with mNPC. The overall survival rates were significantly higher in patients who received local radiotherapy compared to those who did not receive radiotherapy to metastatic lesions.

Summary: This study constructed a single-cell atlas of ESCC and revealed a novel subpopulation of SAA1+ malignant cells that are closely associated with distant metastasis of ESCC. A prediction model based on the gene expression pattern of SAA1+ cells was also established to identify high-risk patients with worse prognosis. These findings enhance our understanding of the mechanisms underlying distant metastasis in ESCC and provide a theoretical basis for improved therapies.

Summary: The study found that patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who had single organ metastasis had a better prognosis than those with multiple organ metastasis. Certain factors such as age, gender, tumor differentiation, tumor size, and metastatic sites were found to be associated with the prognosis of patients with distant metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of tumor budding on the survival of patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. The results showed that high-grade tumor budding was associated with disease-free survival and overall survival in these patients, and smaller tumor cell nests, low levels of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, and higher pathological T staging were closely associated with high-grade tumor budding in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Summary: In this study, a prognostic nomogram was established and validated to identify high-risk patients with distant metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The nomogram, based on multiple factors, showed high predictive ability and accuracy. Serving as a supplement to the TNM staging system, the nomogram has the potential to guide individualized treatment and improve survival outcomes for NPC patients.

Summary: This study explores the expression patterns of Syndecan-1 (SDC-1) in invasive breast carcinoma (IBC) with distant metastasis (DM). It found that the cytoplasmic and stromal expressions of SDC-1 are closely associated with DM, and the stromal expression of SDC-1 is correlated with tumor immune microenvironment. SDC-1 shows potential as a new marker for predicting the risk of distant metastasis in IBC.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the diagnostic performance of MRI in predicting the pathologic stage of LARC after neoadjuvant CRT and the role of MRI in selecting patients with ypCR. The results showed moderate accuracy and sensitivity in predicting ypT and N stages, mainly due to underestimating tumor stage and overestimating nodal status. Furthermore, high specificity and NPV but low sensitivity were observed in predicting the complete response.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the prognostic factors and treatment outcomes of cervical esophageal carcinoma (CEC) patients who underwent definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Clinical data of 175 biopsy-confirmed CEC patients treated with definitive CRT were analyzed retrospectively. The study found that treatment response and patient performance status were significant prognostic factors for overall survival, progression-free survival, and local recurrence-free survival. In addition, higher radiation doses did not affect treatment outcomes. The study concluded that definitive CRT is a safe and effective treatment for CEC patients.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of sicca symptoms and secondary Sjogren's syndrome (SjS) in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), as well as evaluated the expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA) in minor salivary gland (MSG) specimens. Results showed that sicca symptoms were common among SSc patients, with nearly one-third fulfilling the criteria for SjS, particularly in the limited subtype. Older age and positive anti-SS-A antibodies were identified as predictors for SjS, and glandular fibrosis was significant but alpha-SMA staining was rare in patients with SSc.

Summary: Pancreatic polypeptide cell hyperplasia (PPY-H) is a multiplication of neuroendocrine cells producing pancreatic polypeptide (PPY). The development and role of PPY-H still need to be further elucidated. This study analyzed 12 cases of PPY-H accompanying pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasias (NEN) and found that gastrointestinal symptoms may be more related to PPY-H rather than NEN hormonal production. Strong SSTR2 expression in PPY-H suggests the potential utility of radiotracers in clinical diagnostics, but further studies are needed.
