Summary: In this study, FGF9 was found to play a crucial role in the transdifferentiation of lung adenocarcinoma to small cell lung cancer. The upregulation of FGF9 was confirmed to induce neuroendocrine differentiation in established human lung adenocarcinoma cells, providing direct evidence for FGF9-mediated SCLC transdifferentiation and proposing the FGF9-FGFR axis as a therapeutic target for transdifferentiated SCLC.

Summary: The study analyzed the correlation between m(6)A RNA methylation regulators and the occurrence and development of lung cancer, revealing that some m(6)A regulators have high expression in lung cancer and risk score is an independent prognostic factor in lung cancer.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a comprehensive LUSC-specific DEGs signature and identified a seven-gene signature for prognosis prediction of LUSC patients. These genes were found to be associated with tumor progression, immune infiltration, and stem index. Experimental models confirmed that one of the genes, FGG, was significantly upregulated in tumor cells and correlated with immune tumor progression, immune infiltration, and stem cell maintenance.

Summary: The study reviewed prognostic IHC markers in SCLC from various databases until October 19th, 2019, focusing on markers evaluated in at least two independent studies. The results highlighted potential prognostic markers that could be incorporated into clinical care for SCLC patients based on their functions in the tumor.

Summary: With the high incidence and mortality rate of lung cancer, it is of great importance to analyze the molecular mechanism and identify early diagnosis markers. SLC3A2 protein, which is highly expressed in lung cancer, plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis and development, and has the potential to become a new target for tumor treatment. The levels of SLC3A2 in serum and tissue can serve as prognostic markers for lung cancer and provide valuable insights for diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

Summary: The hierarchy of heterogeneous tumor cell populations, with a small population of cancer stem cells (CSCs) at the top, is explained by the CSC model. These CSCs have the ability to self-renew and generate other cancer cell populations, similar to the function of normal adult stem cells. However, controversies exist regarding the existence and identification of CSCs, which may be attributed to technical differences in experimentation, CSC niche-dependency and plasticity, and CSC heterogeneity itself.

Summary: The study found that high expression of ALDH1 was correlated with higher grading, CD44 with tumor localization, size, pN-category, and advanced UICC stage, and SOX2 with negative perineural invasion in adenocarcinoma of the major salivary glands. However, there was no significant correlation between any investigated CSC marker and survival estimates. Overall, the CSCs ALDH1, BMI-1, CD44, Nanog, and SOX2 do not appear to be reliable prognostic parameters for the treatment of adenocarcinoma of the salivary glands.

Summary: No stem cell markers were found to be associated with increased LN metastasis in early GCs. Conversely, isolated expression of EPHB2 was linked to lower LN metastasis. EPHB2 and LGR5 exhibited a basal distribution pattern in early GCs with enhanced expression in submucosal invading cells induced by the niche factor RSPO2 from the muscularis mucosa.

Summary: This study found that m7G modification-related proteins are closely related to the tumor microenvironment, immune cell infiltration, responses to immunotherapy, and patients' prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma and could be useful biomarkers for the identification of patients who could benefit from immunotherapy. The m7G modification protein NUDT4 may be a novel biomarker in promoting the progression of lung cancer.

Summary: This study identified several single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of cancer stem cell-related genes that are potentially associated with the prognosis of lung cancer patients. Some genotypes were found to be associated with an increased risk of lung cancer death, while others were associated with a reduced risk of lung cancer death.

Summary: The study focused on exploring potential prognostic markers of LUAD and successfully built a five-gene prognostic model, which effectively divided samples into high- and low-risk groups with favorable survival outcomes in the training set. Further analysis using GSEA, TMB, and immune infiltration revealed differences in gene expression, mutation frequency, and immune activity between the two risk groups.
