Regional & Urban Planning

Summary: The presence of basic services and local suppliers is often considered as appropriate supply situation. However, in rural areas, many residents are satisfied despite the lack of accessible facilities. This study aims to explain the satisfaction paradox and identify vulnerable groups by quantifying the effects of social function, preferences, resources, coping strategies, and spatial proximity to shops on customers' evaluation of the supply situation. Using secondary and primary data, three structural equation models were estimated. The results suggest that alternative meeting places partially compensate for the lack of local supply and that the subjective evaluation of these places is more important for quality of life than the assessment of the supply situation. Thus, policies should support coping strategies that enhance mobility and autonomy of vulnerable people affected by the lack of local supply.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the job demands, resources, and work engagement of nurses during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed an increase in work overload but less work-life interference during the pandemic. Nurses' resource architecture remained unchanged, but interpersonal relationships and autonomy were rated more positively. The study highlights the need to improve nurses' work engagement through measures such as fostering team cohesion, strengthening autonomy, and managing workload.

Summary: Hair removal in the genital area is a common practice of body modification worldwide, more common in women than in men, younger people than older people, and sexually active individuals than abstinent individuals, with culturally diverse motivations. There is limited evidence on the methods used and their risks in the literature, as there are few medical indications for intimate hair removal. To provide users with guidance on different methods and associated risks from a dermatological perspective, existing data were systematically collected, analyzed, and evaluated. A total of 290 English and German articles were identified using defined search strategies in literature databases (PubMed, Google Scholar), and after assessing their relevance, 61 publications with scientific value were identified. It became evident that depilation methods (shaving, trimming, chemical depilation) were more commonly used compared to epilation methods (waxing, sugaring, mechanical epilation, electroepilation, laser, intense pulsed light, pharmacological epilation). The different risks and unwanted effects were analyzed associated with each method, and preventive strategies were developed to avoid complications.

Summary: Phototherapy is an important method for treating various skin diseases, as it is not only a first-line treatment with high efficacy, but also cost-effective and low in side effects. By using UVA and UVB in a targeted manner, in combination with the photosensitizer psoralen in PUVA therapy, a wide range of skin diseases can be effectively treated.

Summary: This paper focuses on the concept of score for hesitant fuzzy elements, and proposes a rigorous definition that encapsulates the characteristics of the most important scores. It systematically analyzes different types of scores, with a special emphasis on coherence properties based on cardinality and monotonicity. The paper also presents a novel investigation of hesitant fuzzy elements that are intervals.
