Summary: This study aimed to investigate the symptom burden of hospitalized patients with heart failure (HF) and its prognostic significance. The study found that patients with HF had multi-dimensional symptom burdens that varied among individuals and were not correlated with the severity of the disease. Emotional symptoms became the main clinically relevant symptoms at discharge, and worsening symptom burden was associated with a poor prognosis.

Summary: Examining team care for the care team, this scoping literature review focuses on the relational and compassionate aspects of collaboration and teamwork that can alleviate healthcare worker suffering and promote well-being. The study aims to provide conceptual clarity about team care and explore its contextual dimensions. Through analysis of 48 texts, three types of communicative practice were identified as key components of team care: sharing, supporting, and leading with compassion. The study also highlights the importance of a caring team culture and accessible organizational supports in facilitating team care. The findings are integrated into a conceptual model that situates team care within a larger framework of team and organizational needs and anticipated outcomes.

Summary: Based on substantial evidence, the combination of palliative care and standard care improves outcomes for patients, caregivers, and society. A new healthcare model called radiotherapy and palliative care outpatient clinic was developed, where advanced cancer patients are jointly evaluated by a radiation oncologist and a palliative care physician. A monocentric observational cohort study was conducted, and measures of quality of care were carried out. The results suggest that the radiotherapy and palliative care model responds to the need for a multidisciplinary approach to improve care for advanced cancer patients.

Summary: This study explored nurses' experiences in using IPOS as a communication tool in specialized palliative care. The findings showed that using IPOS helped nurses understand patients' care needs and guided care interventions. However, there were challenges in communicating about emotionally charged issues. Nevertheless, when the structured scale and communication complemented each other, IPOS was a useful tool for promoting person-centred care.

Summary: This study used social media data to investigate real-time public opinions regarding palliative and end-of-life care (PEoLC) during the COVID-19 crisis. It found that cancer care and care facilities were common topics of interest to the public in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The implementation of vaccination programs did not significantly influence public opinions about PEoLC. The study suggests that public concerns regarding PEoLC persist and policy makers can learn from public opinions to improve PEoLC during public health emergencies.
