Summary: Most existing methods for alkyl arylthioether synthesis rely on using mercaptans as starting materials, which has practical limitations. A thiol-free method for the synthesis of these valuable compounds is proposed, utilizing reactions between diaryliodonium salts and xanthate salts, derived from corresponding alcohols and CS(2), under the developed conditions. The protocol showcases high functional group tolerance and can be used for late-stage C-H functionalization and introduction of a CD3S group.

Summary: The study presents a new type of 2D hybrid perovskites with a unique combination of chirality and alkyl-aryl functionality, determined by noncovalent intermolecular interactions in their crystal structures. The mixed-cation perovskites exhibit a circular dichroism distinct from purely chiral cation analogues, providing a new avenue for tuning the chiroptical properties of known chiral perovskites. Mixing chiral cations with achiral cations may offer a potential way to tailor the spin-based properties in 2D hybrid perovskites.

Summary: This article describes a palladium-catalyzed aryl-to-alkyl radical relay Heck reaction of amides at alpha-C(sp(3))-H sites with vinyl arenes. The reaction has a broad substrate scope and provides access to complex molecules. It is proposed that the reaction proceeds via a hybrid palladium-radical mechanism. The approach is expected to inspire the discovery of new palladium-catalyzed alkyl-Heck methods.

Summary: This study reports the reactions of silanone with triarylboranes to form boroxysilanes. Experimental results and computational studies show that the electrophilicity of the unsaturated silicon atom is enhanced by the complexation of silanone with triarylboranes, and subsequent aryl migration from the boron atom to the electrophilic silicon atom takes place.

Summary: The study demonstrates the two-electron oxidative addition of aryl and alkyl halides to a reduced iron dinitrogen complex with a strong-field tridentate pincer ligand. Results show that the relative rate of oxidative addition of aryl halides varies with the halide type, and the pathways for obtaining products differ for different substrates.

Summary: In the field of heterocyclic synthesis, alkynyl aldehydes have been extensively studied for their ability to cyclize with other organic compounds, leading to the construction of a wide range of N-, O-, and S-heterocycles. This review article focuses on the progress made in this field over the past two decades, covering metal-catalyzed, metal-free-promoted, and visible-light-mediated transformations.

Summary: A method for synthesizing o-bis(3-indolyl)arenes was developed using indoles and 7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-one and its derivatives without an aromatic ring. This method allows for obtaining all 23 unknown o-bis(3-indolyl)arenes. Palladium catalysis can be used to expand the pi-conjugated area of o-bis(3-indolyl)arenes, resulting in aryl-, alkynyl-, and alkenyl-unit-installed o-bis(3-indolyl)arenes, as well as benzo[c]indolo[2,3-a]carbazoles. Derivatization of these compounds effectively enhances their fluorescence quantum yield. A possible reaction mechanism is proposed based on various mechanistic studies.
