Summary: In this study, three Ru(II) arene complexes with a bidentate benzimidazole-based ligand were synthesized and their antitumor activity was studied by varying the co-ligand X. The synthesized compounds showed good interactions with serum albumin proteins, had good drug stability and lipophilic character. They were found to bind with DNA and could induce apoptosis in cancer cells, as well as upregulate cleaved caspase-3 expression and downregulate BCLXL expression. These findings provide a new direction for the investigation of antitumor ruthenium-based metallodrugs using benzimidazole-based ligands.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of a new series of organometallic dinuclear ruthenium(ii) arene complexes and investigates their in vitro antiproliferative activity and cancer cell death mechanism. The formation of complexes was confirmed by various spectroscopic techniques. The synthesized complexes showed higher inhibition of cancer cells compared to the standard cisplatin drug, and apoptosis was confirmed through morphological changes and phosphatidylserine externalization.

Summary: In this work, new ruthenium compounds with specific ligands were synthesized and characterized. The properties of these compounds in different solvents were studied, and their cytotoxicity against breast tumor cells and non-tumor cell lines was evaluated. One specific compound showed excellent selectivity towards the MDA-MB-231 cell line and induced apoptosis through the intrinsic pathway.

Summary: The study found that certain ruthenium complexes exhibited remarkable stability in water and cell culture medium, showing strong cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines, with RUCYN being the most promising one with significant selectivity compared to non-cancerous cells. The variability of affinity of the complexes for BSA and DNA binding was determined, with certain complexes showing enhanced cell internalization and cytotoxicity at the expense of selectivity.

Summary: We have developed a synthetic protocol for selective cancer therapy using half-sandwich Ru(II)-p-cymene dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-clphenazine analogues. Under irradiation, the cytotoxicity of all complexes is doubled and they exhibit significant selectivity against cancer cells. One complex (RuL4) shows the best phototoxicity. These complexes also have strong binding capacity to serum albumin and DNA, and display good stability.

Summary: Glycoconjugation is a powerful strategy to enhance the anticancer activity of metal complexes. In this study, glycoconjugated ruthenium(II) p-cymene complexes were synthesized by modifying commercial arylphosphanes with carbohydrate-derived fragments. These complexes exhibited significant cytotoxicity against various cancer cell lines and showed potential as novel anticancer agents.

Summary: A series of Ga(Q(n))(3) coordination compounds were synthesized and characterized through various techniques. Cytotoxicity studies showed interesting results in terms of selectivity and toxicity values compared with cisplatin. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the gallium(III) complexes induced cancer cell death through ferroptosis, triggering various cell death signals and altering cell redox homeostasis.

Summary: This article reports a series of Ruthenium(II) complexes with a three-legged piano-stool structure based on an arene ring and an N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC)-carbene ligand with a peracetylated glucose moiety. The complexes undergo hydrolysis in water and show reactivity towards model nucleophiles and biological macromolecules. However, they exhibit low anti-tumor activity against human ovarian carcinoma cells and cisplatin-resistant cells.

Summary: This study reports a new family of proton conductors based on MIL-101 and protic ionic liquid polymers (PILPs) containing different anions. The PILP@MIL-101 composites maintain the nanoporous cavities and water stability of MIL-101, while providing much-improved proton transport. The PILP@MIL-101 composite with HSO4- anions shows superprotonic conductivity (6.3 x 10(-2) S cm(-1)) at 85 degrees C and 98% relative humidity.

Summary: A new strategy for the easy polymerization of anionic [Ln(Q(cy))(4)](-) into two-dimensional layers of [AgLn(Q(cy))(4)](n) is proposed by binding the single molecular anions [Ln(Q(cy))(4)](-) to silver cations through coordination. The luminescent properties of [AgLn(Q(cy))(4)](n) have been studied, and it was found that LMCT quenching is effectively suppressed in the heterometallic [AgEu(Q(cy))(4)](n) polymer, explaining the low PLQY in [Eu(Q(cy))(4)](-). Sensibilization coefficients for H3O[Eu(Q(cy))(4)], [AgEu(Q(cy))(4)](n), and H3O[Sm(Q(cy))(4)] complexes were estimated via theoretical analysis and PLQY measurements.

Summary: Organometallic ruthenium (Ru)(II)-cymene complexes have potential pharmacological properties as alternative therapeutic agents. Polyphenols, such as curcumin and curcuminoids, also display beneficial properties in medicine, including chemoprevention. This study investigated the anticancer effect of a cationic Ruthenium (Ru)(II)-cymene Bisdemethoxycurcumin (Ru-bdcurc) complex, revealing that targeting the interconnection between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident chaperone GRP78/BiP and NRF2 pathways enhances the cytotoxic effect of Ru-bdcurc on colon cancer cells.

Summary: In this study, a new synthetic protocol based on microwave-assisted synthesis was used to prepare higher yields of zinc and copper in MOFs with different ligands. The antibacterial activity of these MOFs was tested against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and the results showed that they exhibited broad-spectrum activity and strong efficiency in inhibiting bacterial growth. The mechanism of action was found to be based on the surface contact of MOF particles with bacterial cells and the generation of reactive oxygen species.

Summary: The reaction of 3,5-diamino-4,4'-bis(1H-pyrazole) with copper(II) and nickel(II) acetates under solvothermal conditions produced four mixed-metal metal-organic frameworks. These frameworks have macroporous structures and high CO2 adsorption capacity. They were also tested as heterogeneous catalysts for CO2 electrochemical reduction, with Cu0.05Ni0.95 showing the best performance and producing CO and CH4 as the main reduction products.
