Summary: This study describes a mild protocol for amide formation using nitroarenes as nitrogen sources and an inexpensive iron complex as a catalyst. The method utilizes pH-neutral conditions and avoids the use of strong oxidants or reductants, allowing for tolerance of a wide range of aldehydes and nitroarenes with various functional groups.

Summary: Two isostructural series of four lanthanide coordination complexes were synthesized using anthraquinone-1,8-disulfonate as the anionic ligand, with K+ ions participating in the coordination. The complexes showed catalytic properties, with the Er3+ coordination complex exhibiting the best catalytic efficiency.

Summary: A series of extended Mn-based cage-like phenylsilsesquioxanes were synthesized through convenient self-assembly reactions and complexations with 1,10-phenanthroline. The structural features of these cage complexes, including various nuclearities and types of silsesquioxane ligands, encapsulations of hydroxide and chloride species, and spontaneous oxidations of Mn-II to Mn-III, were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. One of the synthesized compounds exhibited a unique feature among metallacomplexes, which is the presence of three metal ions with different oxidation states (Na-I, Mn-II, and Mn-III). In addition, the Mn-silsesquioxanes were evaluated as precatalysts in oxidative amidation reactions and a highly effective protocol with low loading of Mn was developed.

Summary: In this study, a new oxidation methodology using a cofactor-inspired approach is described. The photocatalytic reaction of pyrenedione under aerobic conditions enables the synthesis of amides from alcohols and amines via dehydrogenative intermolecular coupling. The reaction proceeds at room temperature and shows excellent synthetic utility with various substrates.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mn-based clusters with different metal arrangements were prepared using salicylhydroxamic acid as organic ligands. It was found that the arrangement of metal ions displaying [M-N-O-M] is more likely to produce weak ferromagnetic coupling, which is crucial for exploring magneto-structure relationship.

Summary: In this study, a visible-light photocatalytic radical addition reaction of dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones to trifluoromethyl ketones has been established using Ru(bpy)3Cl2 as a photocatalyst and HP Single Blue LED as the light source. The reaction allows for the synthesis of dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones bearing a trifluoromethyl-substituted tertiary alcohol moiety in moderate to good yields under mild conditions.

Summary: This article presents a method for amide bond synthesis using carboxylic acids and hydrazines in the presence of ZnCl2. It is the first reported use of hydrazine as an amine partner for directly synthesizing amides with carboxylic acids. The only by-product in this method is ammonia gas. This simple methodology could be useful in synthesizing peptides and natural product derivatives.

Summary: The research synthesized cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene lanthanide complexes and characterized their structures through X-ray diffraction analysis, with density functional theory calculations demonstrating the predominantly ionic bond nature of the complexes. One of the complexes also demonstrated catalytic hydrosilylation of alkenes with high yields and Markovnikov selectivity.

Summary: The rearrangement of highly reactive nitrile imines derived from N-2-nitrophenyl hydrazonyl bromides can be used for the facile construction of amide bonds, with broad applicability to the synthesis of primary, secondary, and tertiary amides. This method demonstrates orthogonality and functional group tolerance, as shown by the N-acylation of unprotected amino acids.

Summary: In the presence of AlCl3, the reaction between meso-formyl Ni(II) porphyrin 1 and zirconacyclopentadiene 2 yielded four products 3, 4, 5, and 6 with a total yield of over 85%. The structures of these compounds were well-characterized, and the mechanism of their formation was proposed based on isotopic labeling experiments, suggesting the involvement of a Friedel-Crafts-type reaction and beta-H shift.

Summary: This study presents a one-step-one-pot synthesis of chain-lengthened aliphatic amines and nitriles using potassium-promoted Co/MnOx catalysts, showing that the reaction can be tuned by adjusting the H-2/CO ratio. Additionally, the addition of NH3 strongly favors the formation of chain-lengthened olefins over alkanes.

Summary: Water pollution is a major concern for human health and sustainability, and photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes is an effective method. Novel lanthanide complexes were synthesized as catalysts for high removal rates of dyes in sewage. Terahertz spectroscopy can distinguish small differences between these complexes, showing potential for sensitive characterization.
