Summary: A new series of chiral ferrocene-based diphosphino-ethane ligands, f-DPE, were developed and applied in the hydrogenation of 2-substituted acrylic acids to obtain chiral propanoic acids with high yields and enantioselectivities. The synthesis of well-known anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and flurbiprofen, was also efficiently achieved using this method. The synthetic utilities of the method were demonstrated through gram-scale experiments.

Summary: We have developed a diphosphine (DP) platform for radiolabeling peptides with 99mTc and 64Cu for molecular SPECT and PET imaging, respectively. The platform enables straightforward functionalization of targeting peptides with a diphosphine chelator, leading to bioconjugates that can be radiolabeled with high radiochemical yield. The DP platform offers versatility and potential for the development of new receptor-targeted imaging radiotracers.

Summary: Addition of various phosphines to two-coordinate nickel species leads to a series of terminal phosphido nickel complexes with unique geometries. Smaller NHCs and phosphines facilitate the formation of bis-phosphido complexes, while DFT calculations show that P-P activation can be achieved through unconventional phosphine adducts.

Summary: The synthesis of a T-shaped imido nickel complex is reported, with an unusual shift of a SiMe3 unit observed during the reaction process. The resulting [Ni=NDipp] complex is described as a low-spin nickel(III) imide with limited activity in H-atom abstraction. The reduction of nickel(II) complexes by organic alkali metal salts likely occurs through a direct SET process rather than homolytic Ni-R bond cleavage.

Summary: Amido-trihydroquinoline ligated rare-earth metal complexes have been synthesized and showed moderate catalytic activities for isoprene polymerization. The 2-Y-based catalytic system exhibited excellent control over the polymerization. The alkylaluminium exerted varying influence on the polymerization, and AIMe(3) significantly enhanced the reactivity and 1,4-selectivity. The active yttrium-polyisoprene species were successfully utilized for the polymerization of caprolactone and its copolymerization with isoprene, demonstrating the tunable modification of the copolymer's surface hydrophilicity, with higher content of hydrophilic PCL sequence resulting in lower WAC.

Summary: The tuning of polyolefin microstructure through ligand modification in transition metal-based catalysts has attracted significant interest. This study synthesized and characterized a series of a-diimine Ni(II) catalysts with varied steric substituents and investigated their catalytic behavior in 1-octene and 1-decene polymerization. The effect of ortho-substituents on the insertion fashion and chain-walking was established, and the branching distribution analysis revealed significant differences between catalysts with different substituents. Additionally, the mechanical properties of the obtained polymers were compared.

Summary: The generation of diphosphorus molecules P-2 under mild conditions in solution is a useful strategy to generate diphosphines via [4+2] cycloadditions. Here, we developed an alternative protocol for the same process using heterocumulenes, which not only produces the dimerization product of P-2, P-4, but also forms nickel complexes of novel pincer-type ligands.

Summary: An asymmetric 1,2-reduction of cyclic alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones was achieved under mild conditions, catalyzed by in situ generated copper hydride ligated with (R)-DTBM-C-3*-TunePhos. The reaction produced various enantiomerically enriched cyclic allylic alcohols, with up to 98% ee enantioselectivities for alpha-brominated cydoalkenones and moderate enantioselectivities for substrates without alpha-substituents.

Summary: In this study, novel α-diiminenickel and -palladium complexes containing flexible 8-alkylnaphthyl were investigated for their catalytic performance in ethylene polymerization. The nickel complexes displayed high activity and generated branched polyethylenes with broad or bimodal molecular weight distributions, while the palladium complexes showed moderate activity, producing highly branched polyethylenes with narrow molecular weight distributions. Additionally, the palladium complexes achieved highly branched E-MA copolymers with considerable MA incorporations, indicating their potential in copolymerization reactions. Compared to their rigid 8-arylnaphthyl counterparts, the flexible 8-alkylnaphthyl complexes exhibited significantly improved activity and produced lower or comparable molecular weight polyethylenes or E-MA copolymers.

Summary: A series of divalent palladium and platinum complexes containing amido PNP pincer ligands were synthesized and their stability and reactivity were discussed. The chloro [1a]PdCl was found to be a superior catalyst precursor in Kumada couplings, providing high yields of n-butyl arenes. Some organometallic complexes were not isolable due to facile decomposition, while others showed thermal stability even at elevated temperatures.

The molecular catalyst can efficiently cross-couple arylboronic acids with various electronically activated, unactivated, and deactivated aryl iodides, bromides, and chlorides in aqueous solutions under aerobic conditions, yielding biphenyl derivatives without the need for amphiphiles, even in the presence of an excess of mercury.
