The n-Bu3P organocatalyzed reaction of cycloalkanones, i.e., cyclopentanones or 1,3-cyclopentanediones tethered to actived olefins, afforded selectively and in high yields three different types of products: bicyclo[3.2.1]octanones, mixed acetals, and Morita-Baylis-Hillman products. The progress of the reaction was closely related to the reaction medium and to the length of the tether located between the cyclopentanone (-dione) and the activated olefin.

Water Formation in Non-Hydrolytic Sol-Gel Routes: Selective Synthesis of Tetragonal and Monoclinic Mesoporous Zirconia as a Case Study

Yanhui Wang, Maroua Bouchneb, Rimeh Mighri, Johan G. Alauzun, P. Hubert Mutin

Summary: Various non-hydrolytic sol-gel synthesis methods were investigated to selectively produce mesoporous t-ZrO2 or m-ZrO2 with significant specific surface areas. The presence of significant amounts of water favored the formation of m-ZrO2, while strictly non-hydrolytic routes favored the formation of t-ZrO2. The role of water in the structure of zirconia was found to be crucial.

Modulation of MRSA virulence gene expression by the wall teichoic acid enzyme TarO

Yunfu Lu, Feifei Chen, Qingmin Zhao, Qiao Cao, Rongrong Chen, Huiwen Pan, Yanhui Wang, Haixin Huang, Ruimin Huang, Qian Liu, Min Li, Taeok Bae, Haihua Liang, Lefu Lan

Summary: Inhibition of TarO, the first enzyme in the wall teichoic acid biosynthetic pathway, decreases the expression of key virulence determinants in community-associated MRSA, and this effect is linked to the activation of the VraRS two-component system. The findings suggest that targeting TarO could be a potential strategy for anti-virulence therapy in MRSA infections.

An Underwater Glider Fleet Coordinate Control Architecture for Ocean of Things to Enable Transparent Ocean

Runfeng Zhang, Yanhui Wang, Weiqiang Gao, Shaoqiong Yang

Summary: This article proposes an underwater glider (UG) fleet coordinate control architecture (GFC2A) to realize large-range ocean observation based on real-time data and ocean model data. The GFC2A integrates a data-driven velocity and time prediction model (VTPM) for UG and a virtual distributed control model. The proposed architecture is validated through simulation experiments and sea trials, demonstrating its effectiveness in coordinating UG fleet and achieving accurate observation of the ocean.

A method based on virtual hinges for multi-underwater glider formation

Shuai Li, Yanhui Wang, Xiaojuan Ma, Ming Yang, Shaoqiong Yang, Wendong Niu

Summary: In this study, a new method for constructing a multi-UG formation based on virtual hinges is proposed. The UGs in the formation are linked in series and considered as rigid bodies to achieve precise position and attitude coordination. Each glider in the formation only considers the adjacent gliders, and the communication topology compensates for the short communication distance of underwater acoustic communication.

Improved RAkEL's Fault Diagnosis Method for High-Speed Train Traction Transformer

Man Li, Xinyi Zhou, Siyao Qin, Ziyan Bin, Yanhui Wang

Summary: This paper proposes an improved RAkEL algorithm for fault diagnosis of high-speed train traction transformers. The method extracts associated faults from sleeping fault maintenance data and uses association rules to identify traction transformer faults. The results show a significant improvement in evaluation indicators, which can help engineers perform timely maintenance work.

Long Non-Coding RNA ANRIL Regulates Inflammatory Factor Expression in Ulcerative Colitis Via the miR-191-5p/SATB1 Axis

Ke-Qi Yu, Chuan-Fei Li, Lu Ye, Ya Song, Yan-Hui Wang, Yu-Ru Lin, Sheng-Tao Liao, Zhe-Chuan Mei, Lin Lv

Summary: This study reveals that ANRIL is involved in the progression of ulcerative colitis (UC) by inhibiting IL-6 and TNF-alpha through the miR-191-5P/SATB1 axis. The downregulation of ANRIL is associated with disease severity in UC patients. This research provides novel insights into the treatment of UC by targeting the ANRIL-mediated miR-191-5P/SATB1 axis.
