Summary: This study expands upon previous work on amphiphilic-grafted nanoparticles and investigates their oil encapsulation properties through UV and DSC analysis. The results suggest that these nanoparticles can encapsulate a significant amount of crude oil and do not have a critical micelle concentration.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of non-modified silica (SiO2), silica grafted with aniline (ANI@SiO2), and silica grafted with polyaniline (PANI@SiO2) nanoparticles on the physical parameters of 7CB liquid crystal. The results show an increase in free ion concentration in the doped samples, which affects the electro-physical parameters of the liquid crystal. By fitting an equivalent electric circuit model to the experimental data, the ion mobility and diffusion constant of the liquid crystal can be calculated. Furthermore, the doping of 7CB with the aforementioned nanoparticles increases the response time, thresholds, and viscosity.

Summary: This study introduces a naked-eye analytical sensing platform for the detection of L-cysteine (cys) and mercury ions (Hg2+) using zinc and cobalt grafted mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs). By utilizing the peroxidase-like activity of the synthesized samples, the detection of cys and Hg2+ was achieved, showing superior sensitivity and linear range compared to other nanoparticles. This method provides a novel approach for biological monitoring and clinical diagnostics.

Summary: The study presents the synthesis of a new nitroxide-mediated polymerization (NMP) initiator with a photolabile ortho-nitrobenzyl (oNB) group for surface-initiated NMP preparation of well-defined photoresponsive polystyrene grafted on silica nanoparticles. The photocleavable and photoresponsive properties of the materials were demonstrated using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) characterization.

Summary: The properties of polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) are dependent on the dispersion of nanoparticles within the polymer matrix. This study investigates the dispersion and crystallization behaviors of PE/HDPE1289-g-SiO2 PNCs in different polyethylene (PE) matrices. The results show that the dispersion of HDPE1289-g-SiO2 nanoparticles is influenced by the P/N parameter and the similarity between the grafted and matrix polymer chain structures.

Summary: Benzimidazole is a key component in many natural and pharmacologically active compounds. A highly efficient manganese oxide-supported magnesium and aluminium-based nanocomposite catalyst was prepared using deposition-precipitation method and characterized using various techniques. The catalyst was then used for the green synthesis of 2-substituted benzimidazole derivatives with different substituents, resulting in high yields. The process offers advantages such as the use of a greener solvent, high conversions, no need for additives or bases, a good TOF, and shorter reaction time.

Summary: A novel Au13@Pt/CdS hybrid nanomaterial was prepared and used for the selective redox reaction of aromatic alcohols and nitroarenes. The anchoring of Au13@Pt nanoparticles on CdS provided abundant e- enrichment sites and wider charge transfer channels, leading to significantly improved photocatalytic performance. This study is expected to offer a way to fabricate a dual-functional photocatalyst for selective organic transformations.

Summary: A series of poly(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate) (PTEPM) oligomers, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) oligomers, and block copolymers of PTEPM-b-PMMA were synthesized using RAFT polymerization. The copolymers were then co-assembled with PMMA or PTEPM oligomers to form ordered nanoscale structures, and the PTEPM block was crosslinked to form silsesquioxane core when immersed in hydrochloric acid atmosphere. By adjusting the molecular structure of the block copolymer and the ratio of the components, the structural parameters of the nanoparticles could be precisely controlled. These nanoparticles are important for studying the relationship between the microstructures and properties of polymer nanocomposites.
