Summary: The study investigates the changes in toxic effects of surfactants during photodegradation, showing that the generation of photoproducts from Triton X-100 may lead to higher toxic effects. D. magna and A. fischeri exhibit different sensitivities to Triton X-100 and its photodegraded products, suggesting that photodegradation can alter the relative toxic effects on different aquatic organisms.

Summary: This study investigated the behavior of a non-ionic surfactant in the presence of a hydrophobic diol, leading to changes in cloud point, viscosity, and micelle morphology. Salt and temperature effects were found to play a role in controlling micellar transitions. The structural transitions were attributed to the hydrophobic interactions between the surfactant and diol.

Summary: Pseudo-ternary phase diagrams of water/Triton X-100/1-pentanol/cyclohexane microemulsions were determined by measuring electrical conductivity. The structure and properties of the microemulsions were analyzed using various techniques, and the phase transitions and nanostructure sizes were discussed. The type of water in W/O microemulsion was specifically analyzed.

Summary: Molecular Dynamics simulations were conducted on Triton X-100, a nonionic surfactant, to investigate its physical properties under the influence of temperature and the addition of salt (NaCl, LiCl). The shape and size of the micelles change with increasing temperature, showing a prolate ellipsoid of revolution due to the folding of polyoxyethylene chains. The hydrodynamic radius of the micelles increases progressively with higher salt concentration. The addition of electrolyte modifies the hydration shell around PEO chains, leading to chain collapse and a decrease in the cloud point, with a greater effect observed for NaCl.

Summary: In this study, the addition of Triton X-100 was found to enhance laccase production in Shiraia spp. S9 mycelium culture and facilitate the biodegradation of the micropollutant triclosan. The surfactant induced the release of reactive oxygen species, increased membrane permeability, and upregulated laccase-related gene expression, resulting in a 108-fold increase in laccase production. After 2 days of culture, the degradation and adsorption rate of triclosan reached 80.71% and 10.21%, respectively, and triclosan was almost completely removed (99.88%) from the water phase through a combination of biodegradation and cloud point extraction.

Summary: This study presents a combined theoretical and computational approach to investigate the shape transition mechanism of Triton X-100 (TX-100) micellar nanoscale aggregates in aqueous solution. By analyzing micellar structural data derived from simulations, the authors propose a theoretical model to predict the shape transition and stability ranges of spherical and nonspherical nanoscale aggregates. The results reveal the energetic stability of spherical aggregates in a small range of conditions, and also identify coexisting shapes and wider stability ranges for larger conditions.

Summary: The cloud point measurement and UV-visible spectroscopic techniques were used to investigate the phase separation, assembly formation, and thermodynamic properties of the Triton X-100 (TX-100) + promethazine hydrochloride (PMH) drug mixed system. The impact of monohydroxy alcohols on the clouding development of the TX-100 + drug mixed system was also demonstrated. The critical micelle concentration of the TX-100 + PMH mixture increased with temperature. The obtained free energy values revealed the non-spontaneity of clouding and spontaneous aggregation of the TX-100 + PMH mixture. The micellization of the TX-100 + PMH mixed system was accompanied by hydrophobic interaction.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the nutritional and healthy values of bread by fortifying it with dried potato peels (BPP) and evaluate its impact on Triton X-100-induced hyperlipidemia in male albino rats. The findings showed that BPP reduced hepatic triglycerides and total cholesterol levels while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) levels. BPP demonstrated potential lipid-lowering and hepatoprotective actions, which were attributed to its ability to reduce oxidative damage and preserve the antioxidant systems compromised by hyperlipidemia. Additionally, BPP enhanced the expression of AMPKa, a key regulator of hepatocyte lipid metabolism, while suppressing the expression of fatty acid synthase (FAS) and acetylCoA carboxylase alpha (ACCa), as well as decreasing the expression of the adipogenic transcription factor SREBP-1c. The histopathological assessment of the liver corroborated these findings. Overall, this investigation revealed the positive impact of bread fortified with BPP in preventing hyperlipidemia.

Summary: The effects of TX-100 and β-CD on the bioavailability and biodegradation of PHE were studied. It was found that β-CD solubilized less PHE but promoted biodegradation, and resulted in less elution of cells from biofilms compared to TX-100. Microscopy observation showed that β-CD treated biofilm had a more complete structure.
