Summary: Researchers designed and synthesized a porphyrin-based covalent organic framework (COF) called Porph-UOZ-COF. The COF exhibited outstanding catalytic performance under visible-light, without the need for additives or metals, and could be reused. This study demonstrates the potential of COFs as metal-free catalysts for tandem reactions.

Summary: This paper presents the preparation of platinum on a reduced graphene oxide matrix (PtrGO) using the microwave-assisted method with three different pH solutions. The platinum concentration determined by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) was 4.32 (weight%), 2.16 (weight %) and 5.70 (weight%), corresponding to pH 3.3, 11.7 and 7.2, respectively. Pt functionalization of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) decreased the rGO specific surface, as shown by Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET) analysis.

Summary: Combining enzymatic and single-metal-atom catalysis shows promise for green chemical synthesis. This study presents a one-pot chemoenzymatic cascade reaction for the asymmetric synthesis of (R)-1-(4-biphenyl) ethanol, using a highly active and selective enzyme-metal-single-atom hybrid as the catalyst. The Pd single atoms anchored lipase (Pd1/CALB-P) efficiently drives cascade reactions in aqueous solution, achieving facile synthesis of chiral biaryl alcohols.

Summary: An electrochemical three-component reaction was developed for the synthesis of 4-thiocyanato-1H-pyrazoles from arylhydrazines, 1,3-diketones and ammonium thiocyanate. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions without the need for any metal catalyst or oxidant in an undivided cell. The protocol demonstrated broad substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, and was economically and eco-friendly.

Summary: In this study, multicomponent and multifunctional solid catalysts based on tetra-anionic manganese(III)porphyrin Na4[Mn (TDFSPP)(Oac)] (MnP) immobilized on inorganic supports composed of silica/WO3/layered material were prepared and investigated. The catalysts showed high activity for the one-pot cyclohexane oxidation to cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, followed by ketalization of cyclohexanone with methanol. The combination of MnP catalysis and the acid sites of the inorganic supports facilitated the tandem reaction.

Summary: Alcohol dehydrogenases are enzymes that use cofactors for oxidation or reduction reactions of alcohols or carbonyl compounds. They are utilized in green chemistry and have applications in the production of pharmaceuticals. Recombinant enzymes have solved the challenge of producing purified enzymes in large quantities. Engineered alcohol dehydrogenases have been used in asymmetric synthesis in industry. Various methods have been established for regenerating expensive cofactors to make the enzymatic process more efficient and economically viable.
