Summary: The development of portable and rapid electronic biosensors for quantitative detection of cancer biomarkers CEA and CYFRA 21-1 is reported. The sensors showed promising responses and a portable prototype accurately distinguished between oral squamous cell carcinoma patients and healthy controls.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of using a combined score based on CYFRA 21-1 level and LMR as a prognostic predictor for patients with ESCC. The results showed that the CA-LMR score, along with tumor markers and inflammatory index, could be used as a potential prognostic indicator. Additionally, the proposed mpStage system, based on the CA-LMR score, demonstrated superior discriminatory ability, monotonicity, homogeneity, and prognosis prediction ability compared to the traditional AJCC 8th pStage system.

Summary: Salivary metabolites are reliable for the diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma and can differentiate between different oral diseases. Studies indicate that saliva contains many potential metabolites that could serve as biomarkers. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: A new auxiliary diagnostic system for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was proposed to automatically and accurately evaluate tissue slides. The system's accuracy reached 98.1% for evaluating tumor grade on biopsy slides, and it showed promising results in both training and independent datasets. This system has the potential to improve the efficiency of oral pathologists and facilitate the development of computational histopathology.

Summary: Basaloid squamous-cell carcinoma (BSCC) is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) composed of atypical squamous and basaloid cells. This paper reports a case of BSCC in a 42-year-old male patient with a vegetating and ulcerated leukoerythroplastic lesion on the floor of the mouth. The patient died five months after diagnosis.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the diagnostic and prognostic value of serum Cytokeratin-19 fragments (CYFRA 21-1) in colorectal cancer (CRC). The results showed that CYFRA 21-1 can better differentiate colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) patients from the whole CRC patients and has unique prognostic value for CRLM patients.

Summary: The study identified a combination of six microRNAs that could accurately distinguish oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) from the control group with a higher degree of accuracy compared to traditional serum tumor markers like SCC-Ag. This specific microRNA panel may serve as a novel candidate biomarker for oral cancer diagnosis.

Summary: The mortality rate of patients affected with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has remained stable due to diagnostic delay and poor prognosis. This paper analyzed the diagnostic delay in OSCC and discussed the psychological factors of patients with OSCC, particularly their fear of receiving news about their health. Poor investigation into patients' fears and concerns of dentists was found. The authors suggested increasing awareness and informing patients about OSCC while encouraging experimental studies on patients' fear and professional behaviors in regards to communication about OSCC.

Summary: This study identified biomarkers associated with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and oral erosive lichen planus (OELP) by analyzing plasma samples. The biomarkers were found to be closely related to cholic acid metabolism and amino acid metabolism. By establishing a diagnostic panel, it was possible to predict the malignant transformation of OELP and diagnose OSCC in its early stages.

Summary: Metronomic therapy is a low-dose, repeated treatment approach for cancer that targets antiangiogenesis and immunomodulation mechanisms, showing comparative efficacy to traditional chemotherapy but with reduced side effects. In the treatment of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma and other cancers, metronomic therapy has demonstrated promising results.
