Summary: In this study, a Nd:GdPO4 single crystal was grown by the top-seeded solution method, and its polarized absorption and fluorescence spectra were analyzed based on the Judd-Ofelt theory. The effects of energy transfer and energy migration on the fluorescence lifetime of Nd3+ were discussed, along with an investigation into the concentration-dependent fluorescence quenching effect. The Nd:GdPO4 crystal exhibited a 1060 nm laser output with peak power of 1.12 W and a slope efficiency of 21.9% when end-pumped by a quasi-continuous-wave 790 nm laser diode with an absorbed pump peak power of 5.39 W.

Summary: We present the performance of a Yb:YPO4 microchip laser with a 2D WS2 saturable absorber, which shows high efficiency operation in both continuous-wave (CW) and passive Q-switching mode. The laser generated a CW output power of 3.81 W with an optical conversion efficiency of 60.5% and a slope efficiency of 71% when absorbing 6.30 W of pump power. In the passive Q-switching mode, a pulsed output power of 1.67 W was achieved at a repetition frequency of 660 kHz, with a slope efficiency of 52%. By using different output mirrors, pulse energy, pulse width, and peak power of 2.52 μJ, 67 ns, and 31.7 W, respectively, were obtained. These results represent a significant improvement in the CW and passive Q-switching performance of Yb:YPO4 microchip lasers.

Summary: This study demonstrates a comprehensive characterization of the diode-pumped Yb:Bi4Si3O12 laser in continuous-wave and soliton mode-locked regimes, achieving high output powers and efficiencies in both modes of operation. Summary: In this work, a continuous-wave InAs-based interband cascade laser emitting at a wavelength of 4.58 μm is reported. The laser operates at high temperatures, with a maximum temperature of 64 degrees C achieved, which is 29 degrees C higher than previously reported values for similar lasers. At 20 degrees C, an output power of 20 mW was obtained using a 10-μm x 2-mm ridge waveguide device with one facet coated for high reflection and epilayer-down mounting.

Summary: Nd:SrAl11O19 (Nd:SRA) crystal was grown by Czochralski method for its optical properties and laser output performance study. The results showed that the crystal exhibited good absorption and emission properties at specific wavelengths, making it a promising material for laser applications. It was also found that the c-cut sample of the crystal had high output power and slope efficiency.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the in-band pumping of a Tm,Ho,Lu:CaGdAlO4 laser using a Raman-shifted Er-fiber laser. We achieved high output power and wide wavelength tuning range in the continuous-wave regime and high repetition rate pulse output in the mode-locked regime.

Summary: The research developed a self-consistent theoretical model for simulating the lasing characteristics of PCSELs under CW operation, showing that the spatial distribution of the band-edge frequency affects the lasing band-edge selectivity and beam quality. It was also demonstrated that single-mode lasing with narrow beam divergence can be achieved by introducing a photonic-crystal structure with an artificially formed lattice constant distribution.

Summary: A high crystalline quality YSr3(PO4)3 (Er:YSP) single crystal with a heavy concentration (30 mol%) of Er3+ ion was grown using the Czochralski pulling method. The crystal structure was determined to be a cubic system with the point group 43m. The absorption and fluorescence spectra were analyzed, showing intense absorption at 974 nm and an emission band centered at about 3090 nm with a broad full width half-maximum of 140 nm. The crystal demonstrated potential as a laser medium for the - 3μm region.

Summary: We report on the spectral properties and high-efficiency broadband laser operation of a Tm:CaY0.9Gd0.1AlO4 (Tm:CYGA) crystal. The crystal exhibits broad absorption and emission spectra, offering a smooth gain band. A maximum continuous-wave laser output power of 1.43 W at 1967.8 nm, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 42.2%, is achieved with an absorbed pump power of 4.35 W. A tunable Tm:CYGA laser with a tuning range of 284.7 nm from 1837.5 to 2122.2 nm is realized using a birefringent filter (BF). The results demonstrate the potential of the Tm:CYGA crystal for generating high-efficiency broadband CW laser and ultrashort pulses in the 2-μm spectral range.
