Summary: The study focuses on creating shape-adaptive imagers using kirigami design in ultrathin silicon pixels, with high pixel fill factors. These imagers can adjust shape for imaging applications requiring low optical aberration and tunable focusing power. Additionally, combining a concave-shaped imager with a tunable lens allows for adaptive optical focus to capture distant and near objects with low aberration.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether displaying the expert's eye movements in ultrasound training (eye movement modeling examples; EMMEs) leads to better learning outcomes compared to traditional eye movement-free instructions. The results showed that the EMME group identified sonoanatomical structures correctly and completed tasks faster than the control group. This effect was partially mediated by a reduction in extraneous cognitive load. Participants with greater prior anatomical knowledge benefitted the most from EMME training.

Summary: Eye movement modeling examples (EMME) are video modeling examples that include eye-movement recordings of the model, providing attentional guidance. This study reviews empirical studies employing EMME to synthesize existing literature and identify gaps for further research. Thirty-one peer-reviewed studies published between 2009 and 2022 were included. Results indicate an increase in EMME studies, with a focus on teaching cognitive skills rather than perceptual skills. Design features of EMME are still inconclusive, calling for more research on its effects and different design characteristics.

Summary: A new technique of polarization doping was used to improve the NO2 gas sensing performance of the polypyrrole sensor. The introduction of sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate enhanced the dispersion and specific surface area of the PPy nanosheets. The resulting PPy sensor showed excellent NO2 sensing properties due to the enhanced adsorption ability and electron transfer caused by polarization doping.

Summary: The study compared the performance of different chelating agents in improving fracture conductivity in carbonate reservoirs, finding that treatments with EDTA and GLDA had comparable outcomes to HCl acid in terms of fracture conductivity, with less reduction in rock strength. This could lead to better long-term sustainable fracture conductivity. The connectivity between fracture and rock matrix was improved, and field-scale simulations showed that EDTA and GLDA agents had lower dissolution magnitudes compared to HCl acid, but could etch a larger percentage of the created fracture length.

Summary: The galvanometer-camera imaging system (GCIS) enlarges the field of view without decreasing imaging resolution by switching viewing directions. However, the lack of an adequate imaging model limits its application in accuracy-dependent 3D vision tasks. This paper proposes a nonphysical parameter imaging model and a calibration method to enhance the applicability of GCIS. Experimental results verify the effectiveness and high performance of the proposed methods.

Summary: This study presents a diffractive lensless camera utilizing spatially-coded Voronoi-Fresnel phase for superior image quality. The design principle focuses on maximizing acquired information in optics to facilitate computational reconstruction, with the optimization guided by an easy-to-optimize Fourier domain metric, MTFv. The proposed Voronoi-Fresnel phase outperforms existing lensless cameras and holds potential for compact imaging systems in extreme physical conditions.

Summary: The combination of electronic sensing technologies with chemometric methods plays a crucial role in food quality control, enabling the identification of different compounds in food samples. Currently, most studies are still in the exploratory analysis stage, but non-linear methods based on artificial intelligence/machine learning show promising performance.

Summary: Injection molding is one of the most important technologies in the polymer processing industry. This paper presents and discusses the latest advancements in modeling and experimentation of polymer flow and melting in injection molding machines. It also uncovers the phenomenon of starvation in the beginning sections of the screw, which has not been reported in the literature.

Summary: By employing multi-objective optimization in VSC, using fracture criterion and mean curvature as objective functions, solutions with higher mean curvature and lower processability showed higher strength gains. Strength improvement was achieved while satisfying molding conditions through giving molding conditions as constraints for optimization.

Summary: Radiative cooling is an effective method for energy saving, but its performance is affected by dust deposition outdoors. This study used equivalent particle and Rosseland diffusion approximation models to predict the heat transfer properties of radiative cooling surfaces with different levels of dust deposition. The results showed that dust deposition significantly reduced the net cooling power and changed the heat flow characteristics, with high levels of dust deposition leading to a constant reduction in net heat gain.

Summary: This study aims to bridge the research gap by presenting experimental results on direct methanol generation from biomass-derived syngas. The experimental work compared two syngas compositions and found that methanol yield is favored at lower temperatures and higher pressure values. The developed mathematical model predicted a maximum methanol yield of 21.06% for lower H-2 syngas.
