Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the distribution, clinical findings, treatment, complications, and visual outcomes of pediatric uveitis. The most prevalent systemic associations were juvenile idiopathic arthritis and Behcet's disease. Majority of the patients experienced ocular complications, but there was improvement in visual outcomes after follow-up treatment.

Summary: This study found that uveitis could be a predictor of ACS in patients with AS. Both anterior uveitis and posterior segment involvement were associated with an increased risk of ACS in AS patients. Age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and systemic steroids were significant risk factors for ACS. The all-cause mortality was higher in the uveitis group compared to the non-uveitis group.

The study included 109 uveitis cases, with the most common symptoms being pain (74.31%), hyperemia (73.39%), and blurred vision (65.14%). The most frequent anatomical classification was anterior uveitis (55.96%), followed by panuveitis (18.35%), posterior uveitis (12.84%), and intermediate uveitis (7.34%). In terms of etiology, most uveitis cases were idiopathic (42.99%), followed by non-infectious (38.32%), and infectious (18.69%).

Summary: This retrospective study evaluated the 10-year outcome of infliximab (IFX) treatment for uveitis in Behcet disease patients. The results showed that approximately 75% of patients continued IFX treatment for 10 years, and their visual acuity significantly improved and remained stable. Although half of the patients experienced recurrence of uveitis after treatment, there was no significant difference in visual acuity compared to those without recurrence.

Summary: This study analyzed the incidence and survival outcomes of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) in Australia using data from the Australian Cancer Database. The incidence of PCNSL has been increasing at an average annual rate of 6.8% over the past four decades, with an overall low survival rate of only 33% at 5 years after diagnosis. Additionally, the study found that the increase in PCNSL incidence was driven by the diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) type, with survival outcomes improving but still lower than for non-CNS lymphoma.

Summary: The prevalence of dengue retinopathy varies across epidemics, and is linked to the circulation of dengue virus serotype 1 (DENV-1). This study investigated the infectivity, molecular response, and barrier function of epithelial cells infected with DENV strains from different outbreaks in Singapore. The results showed that DENV-1 strains from the 2005 epidemic, when retinopathy was prevalent, had higher viral RNA loads and up-regulated interferon transcripts compared to DENV-1 strains from the 2007 epidemic when retinopathy was not observed. The strain of DENV may play a role in the development of retinal pathology.

Summary: Retinopathy is a recognized complication of dengue, affecting hospitalized patients up to 10%. This study aimed to investigate the susceptibility of Muller cells to dengue virus (DENV) infection and their antiviral, inflammatory, and immunomodulatory responses in vitro. It was found that Muller cells can be infected by DENV and mount an immune response, but the response varies across different cell isolates and DENV strains. This research provides insights into the role of retinal Muller glial cells in dengue retinopathy.

Summary: Diabetic retinopathy is a retinal disease associated with hyperglycemia in diabetes patients, affecting both the central and peripheral retina. Its major mechanism involves oxidative stress caused by elevated production of reactive oxygen species, which is particularly harmful to the retina due to its high metabolic activity. This review provides an overview of the role of oxidative stress in diabetic retinopathy, including the formation and effects of advanced glycation end-products, metabolic memory, and non-coding RNA, as well as potential therapeutic strategies.
