Summary: This study assessed ultrasound measurements of brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and their relationship in glaucoma patients. The results showed that glaucoma patients had significantly lower brachial FMD values compared to controls, while carotid IMT values did not differ significantly. The study also found a negative correlation between brachial FMD values and both carotid IMT and brachial artery diameter at rest.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the normal pediatric values of carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) by conducting a systematic review of the literature. The results showed that the average IMT in children using B-mode and radiofrequency techniques were 0.43mm and 0.41mm respectively. No significant relationship was found between IMT and age or sex.

Summary: The intima-media thickness (IMT) and its irregularities or ulcerations in the common carotid artery (CCA) can serve as biomarkers for cardiovascular system integrity. Total homocysteine and lipoprotein levels are commonly used for cardiovascular risk stratification. Duplex ultrasound (DUS) combined with serum biomarkers can assess atherosclerotic disease and cardiovascular risk effectively.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the relationship between serum 25(OH)D and carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) in men with erectile dysfunction (ED). Results showed that serum 25(OH)D levels were significantly decreased in ED patients compared to the healthy control group, while CIMT values were significantly increased in the moderate and severe ED groups compared to the control group. IIEF-5 score was positively correlated with serum 25(OH)D level and negatively correlated with CIMT value. After adjusting for confounding factors, there were significant associations between CIMT values, 25(OH)D levels, and IIEF-5 scores.

Summary: The combined evaluation of FMD and IMT has significant value in predicting the presence of CAD, with the combination of low FMD and high IMT being the strongest predictor. Adding FMD and IMT to the traditional risk factors model improves the predictive power for CAD presence and correctly reclassifies a portion of patients.

Summary: Angiopoietin-like proteins are known regulators of lipid metabolism, but recent evidence suggests they also play a role in regulating adipose tissue function. Dysfunction in adipose tissue, known as adiposopathy, is considered a main contributor to metabolic syndrome and its related complications. Understanding the role of ANGPTLs in adipocyte metabolism could provide insights into common cardiometabolic alterations associated with adiposopathy.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between remnant cholesterol and carotid intima-media thickness in children and adolescents. The results showed that elevated levels of remnant cholesterol were associated with early atherosclerotic damage in youths, independent of conventional risk factors such as age, sex, and body mass index. Both normal-weight and overweight/obese individuals with high levels of remnant cholesterol had an increased risk of elevated cIMT, indicating the potential role of remnant cholesterol as a marker for atherosclerosis in young populations.

Summary: Ultrasound is highly effective in procedures and complication assessment in peritoneal dialysis, providing preoperative assessment, during catheter placement, infection detection and monitoring, and evaluation of catheter function. Despite its cost- and time-saving benefits, as well as bedside operation capability, ultrasound remains underappreciated in the field of peritoneal dialysis. This publication aims to explain and emphasize the clinical utility of ultrasound in PD and expand diagnostic tools for clinicians.

Summary: Multiparametric ultrasound imaging, especially elastography, plays a crucial role in evaluating testicular pathologies. While elastography shows promising results in varicocele and focal lesion characterization, its role in other areas remains under debate. Further studies are needed to validate these findings and explore the potential broader applications of elastography in testicular pathology.
