Summary: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of selective partial neurectomy of the musculocutaneous nerve (MCN) in pediatric patients with bilateral spastic elbow. The results showed significant improvements in the resting position and active amplitude of the affected elbows, as well as a decrease in spasticity after surgery. This surgical intervention has proven to be effective in treating pediatric patients with bilateral spastic elbow.

Summary: This study demonstrates that nerve transfers from the brachioradialis to the extensor carpi radialis longus are anatomically feasible. This may provide an additional therapeutic approach for spastic upper limbs.

Summary: This study defined the anatomical landmarks of tibial motor nerve branches for selective motor nerve blocks in the treatment of spastic equinovarus foot in children with cerebral palsy. The results can be used to help perform selective nerve blocks in patients with cerebral palsy.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate differences in muscle synergy structure between gait patterns in children with spastic cerebral palsy. The results showed that while synergy structure was similar between gait patterns, weights differed in more impaired children and there was high variability in synergy structure between participants.

Summary: This study compared nerve thickening patterns and parameters in ulnar neuropathy at the elbow due to compression and entrapment, finding that maximal ulnar nerve cross-sectional area difference, maximal cross-sectional area change, and maximal/minimal cross-sectional area ratio were significantly larger in entrapment cases. The maximal CSA difference between points separated by 1-2 cm efficiently differentiated between compression and entrapment, potentially aiding in the determination of appropriate treatment strategies for ulnar neuropathy and other focal neuropathies of unknown cause.

Summary: This study anatomically dissected the cutaneous nerve branches of the median and ulnar nerves in the palm. The results revealed three groups of nerve branches with different distributions, including a proximal row, a distal row, and a metacarpophalangeal group. The palm of the hand was consistently innervated by long branches originating proximal to the palmar arch and shorter branches originating distal to the palmar arch.

Summary: This observational study investigated pain in stroke patients with upper limb spastic dystonia. The study found that a significant number of patients experienced pain, and treatment with incobotulinumtoxin-A reduced both pain and muscle tone.

Summary: This study showed that baseball players undergoing UCLR and UNT for UCL insufficiency and associated ulnar neuritis can expect high RTP rates and subjective outcomes. However, rates of persistent sensory ulnar neuritis can be as high as 30%.

Summary: This study aimed to reveal the distribution patterns of infraorbital nerve (ION) branches in the upper lip. The results showed that the ION branches include the inferior palpebral, external and internal nasal, and superior labial nerves. It is recommended to use a lateral mucosal incision during oral surgery to avoid damaging the ION branches.

Summary: This retrospective study found that highly selective partial neurectomies (HSPNs) were more effective in treating spasticity long-term, with significantly improved MAS scores pre- and post-operatively independently determined by physical therapists. Patient satisfaction was high, and perioperative complications were minimal.

Summary: C7 nerve transfer and selective posterior rhizotomy can individually improve upper limb motor function and spasticity, respectively. Combining contralateral C7 nerve transfer and SPR for patients with upper limb dysfunction can possibly lead to improved surgical outcomes. More studies are needed to validate this novel approach.

Summary: The study aims to characterize the articular branches of the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve (DBUN) and validate a technique for selective peripheral nerve blockade. The researchers performed simulated local anesthetic injections in cadavers and successfully identified the branching pattern of the DBUN and the effectiveness of the injection technique. This study is clinically significant for surgeons treating ulnar-sided wrist pain.
