Can a Hip Brace Improve Short-Term Hip-Related Quality of Life for People With Femoroacetabular Impingement and Acetabular Labral Tears: An Exploratory Randomized Trial

Jillian P. Eyles, Nicholas J. Murphy, Sonika Virk, Libby Spiers, Robert Molnar, John O'Donnell, Parminder Singh, Phong Tran, Sunny Randhawa, Michael O'Sullivan, David J. Hunter

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a hip brace on hip health quality-of-life in patients with FAIS or symptomatic labral tears. The results showed that wearing the brace can improve pain symptoms and functions, and the brace was generally well-tolerated. However, there were concerns about the comfort and effectiveness of the brace for some participants.

TLC599 in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee: a phase IIa, randomized, placebo-controlled, dose-finding study

David J. Hunter, Chi-Ching Chang, James Cheng-Chung Wei, Hsiao-Yi Lin, Carl Brown, Tien-Tzu Tai, Chih-Feng Wu, Wing Chia-Ming Chuang, Sheue-Fang Shih

Summary: The liposome formulation of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (TLC599) was found to be an effective and safe treatment for knee osteoarthritis. The study showed that a single intra-articular injection of TLC599 at a dose of 12 mg provided sustained relief from pain and improved knee function for up to 24 weeks. The use of acetaminophen was also reduced in the TLC599 groups compared to placebo. However, the higher dose of TLC599 (18 mg) did not show significant improvements in pain or function. Overall, TLC599 appears to be a promising option for long-term management of knee osteoarthritis.
