Summary: This secondary analysis of the Twin Birth Study demonstrated that the planned delivery mode (CD or VD) in twin pregnancies with the first twin in cephalic presentation may have different effects on perinatal outcomes depending on gestational age at delivery. For pregnancies delivered at 32-37 weeks, planned VD appeared to be favorable, while from around 37 weeks onwards, planned CD might be safer. Evaluating the risks and benefits of each delivery mode is crucial to optimize perinatal outcomes in twin pregnancies.

Summary: This study assessed the perinatal outcome of twin pregnancies with planned vaginal delivery according to chorionicity, and found that uncomplicated monochorionic twin pregnancies did not have a higher rate of composite intrapartum mortality and neonatal morbidity and mortality compared to dichorionic twin pregnancies.

Summary: This study compares perinatal outcomes in nulliparous women aged = 35 years undergoing a trial of labor (TOL) versus a planned cesarean delivery (CD). The study found that the rate of TOL decreased with increasing age, and maternal age was associated with a slightly increased odds for a failed TOL. However, TOL remains a safe option with considerable success rates in older nulliparous women.

Summary: This study investigates the success rate of trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) in twin gestations with no prior vaginal delivery. The findings suggest a low success rate for TOLAC in this population, and epidural analgesia is positively associated with TOLAC success.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the factors associated with failed trial of labor after a cesarean section (TOLAC) in women with twin gestation. The study found that failed TOLAC was associated with assisted reproductive technology, lack of oxytocin use, lack of epidural analgesia, and preterm birth. Further analysis revealed that cervical dilation on admission, no use of oxytocin, gestational age at delivery, and lack of epidural analgesia were significantly associated with failed TOLAC.

Summary: This meta-analysis evaluated the perinatal and maternal morbidity and mortality associated with planned cesarean delivery and planned vaginal delivery. The results showed that there was no significant difference in perinatal mortality between the two delivery methods. Planned cesarean delivery was associated with lower rates of adverse neonatal outcomes such as low umbilical artery pH, birth trauma, tube feeding requirement, and hypotonia, as well as lower rates of chorioamnionitis, urinary incontinence, and painful perineum. Planned vaginal delivery was associated with lower rates of general anesthesia and wound infection.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate whether preoperative vaginal cleansing with povidone-iodine reduces postoperative infectious morbidity in women undergoing cesarean delivery after labor. The results showed that vaginal cleansing with povidone-iodine did not reduce postoperative infectious morbidity in women undergoing cesarean delivery after labor. Therefore, the routine use of vaginal cleansing is not supported for these women.

Summary: This study compared the effects of Foley catheter and controlled-release dinoprostone vaginal insert on the induction-to-delivery interval and maternal satisfaction in women with one previous cesarean delivery. The results showed that controlled-release dinoprostone vaginal insert shortened the induction-to-delivery interval, but did not significantly increase maternal satisfaction.

Summary: Research indicates that vaginal progesterone does not reduce the incidence of spontaneous preterm birth in women with twin pregnancies. Post hoc analysis suggests that progesterone may reduce the risk of spontaneous preterm birth before 32 weeks' gestation in women with a cervical length of <30 mm, but increase the risk for those with a cervical length of >= 30 mm.

Summary: Monoamniotic twin pregnancies are rare and have a higher incidence of complications and lower survival rate. Early anatomy screening is recommended to detect fetal anomalies. Causes of fetal death include fetal anomalies and twin-twin transfusion syndrome. After viability, closer fetal surveillance is advised to reduce the risk of in utero death. If uncomplicated, delivery should occur at 33 to 34 weeks' gestation.

Summary: The study found that twins have a higher prevalence of low birth weight and intrauterine growth restriction compared to singletons. Among late preterms, twins had a higher likelihood of jaundice and antibiotic use. Among early terms, twins had higher odds of needing oxygen therapy, admission to neonatal intensive care unit, transient tachypnoea, jaundice, and antibiotic use.

Summary: This study evaluated the acceptability, adverse effects, and continuation rates of the etonogestrel (ENG) subdermal implant among adolescents compared to other contraceptive methods after childbirth. Results showed that students were more likely to accept the ENG implant and had a longer adherence time. The majority of adolescents were satisfied with the implant, but a few requested early removal due to menstrual irregularity and local discomfort.

Summary: This study explores the experiences of women with CKD undergoing hemodialysis in relation to their reproductive history. The results reveal that pregnancy complications may cause or worsen CKD and being a woman on hemodialysis comes with additional burdens. Therefore, considering the specificities of CKD in women is important for diagnosis and treatment adherence, and the reproductive life history of women on hemodialysis should be taken into consideration for promoting their holistic health, including mental health aspects.

Summary: This study evaluated the sociodemographic, clinical, and obstetric history of women undergoing hemodialysis. The results showed that hypertension was the main cause of chronic kidney disease, and pregnant women had higher rates of adverse perinatal outcomes. Hypertension was associated with gestational hypertension and hypertension up to one year after birth. Understanding the reproductive history of pregnant women can help delay the progression of end-stage renal disease.

Summary: This study examines the satisfaction and experiences of pregnant women who received antenatal cardiotocography (aCTG) in midwife-led care and explores factors associated with high satisfaction. The results show that most women were highly satisfied with receiving aCTG in midwife-led care, with a mean satisfaction score of 9.2. Women between 33 and 36 weeks' gestation were more likely to be highly satisfied, while a less comfortable position during the aCTG decreased the odds of being highly satisfied.

Summary: Post-placental IUDs were found to be a viable alternative during the COVID-19 pandemic. The acceptance rate of PPIUD was 65.6%, with the main reason for refusal being the desire for another contraceptive. Younger women, those without a partner, and those who had a vaginal delivery were more likely to accept PPIUD.

Summary: This study investigated the pathways linking maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, infant birth weight, breastfeeding duration, and rapid weight gain during infancy to overweight outcomes in early childhood. The results showed that maternal pre-pregnancy BMI was directly associated with infant birth weight, child BMI z-score, and overweight status. Rapid weight gain in infancy exhibited the strongest direct association with child overweight outcomes.

Summary: The study aimed to explore women's perceptions of violence, its causes, manifestations, consequences, and responses to prevent and confront domestic violence against women in Brazilian society. A qualitative study with individual, semistructured interviews was conducted in an antenatal and postnatal care service in the Brazilian National Health System. The findings revealed that Brazilian women during pregnancy and the postpartum period had a multifaceted view of domestic violence, highlighting the difficulties in interrupting the cycle of violence and accessing support networks.
