Summary: This paper presents NELLIE, a pipeline architecture to build a chain of modules that address data augmentation challenges and ultimately build a fused knowledge graph out of Linked Open Data. NELLIE uses a two-phase linking approach to fuse each pair of knowledge graphs and improves the link prediction task's Hit@1 score by up to 94.44% compared to a naive approach.

Summary: This study identified risk factors, such as elevated levels of D-dimers and C-reactive protein, and a high heart rate, associated with intra-hospital mortality in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia. These biomarkers were also correlated with the need for mechanical ventilation, admission to intensive care unit, or multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. D-dimer and C-reactive protein demonstrated adequate performance in predicting a poor prognosis in patients with severe viral infection.

Summary: This study compared the acquisition and extinction of conditioned stimuli in a capsaicin heat pain paradigm in healthy human participants. The results demonstrated a preponderance to acquire aversive rather than appetitive cues, which may initially have a protective function but eventually contribute to the maintenance of chronic pain.

Summary: Memories are not perfect recordings of the past and can be subject to systematic biases. This study found that interrupting events at different time points can affect memory of how those events ended. Interrupting just before a salient action was completed resulted in false recall of details about the ending, while interrupting just after one scene had ended led to omissions of details about the true ending.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) electrosynthesis via 2e(-) Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to the current anthraquinone-based technology. Various lightweight element hetero-doped carbon nanostructures, particularly those containing O-functionalities, show promise as cheap metal-free electrocatalysts for H2O2 synthesis. The covalent exohedral functionalization of the outer surface of extra-pure multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with discrete O-functional groups provides new insights into the structure/reactivity relationship of O-containing carbon-based catalysts for ORR, clarifying the role of hydroxyl/phenol groups as key functionalities.

Summary: The rapid development of Internet technology and machine-learning devices has provided new opportunities for online healthcare systems. Online medical assistance and advice can be easier to understand than traditional methods, but there are challenges such as inaccurate predictions and lack of assurance of replies. To address these issues, an automatic online prediction (OAP) method using machine learning has been proposed.

Summary: This paper proposes a joint model that incorporates causal commonsense events knowledge into story ending generation. By using a shared encoder, an inference decoder, and a generation decoder, causal events inference is conducted to help the model better understand the story context and generate a reasonable story ending. Experimental results on the ROCStories dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the joint model and the generated causal events.

Summary: This study examined the attitudes and preferences of people living with HIV towards payment in research participation. The findings suggest that payment can influence individuals' decisions to participate and their perception of study risks, and that different sociodemographic groups may have different preferences and reactions to payment.

Summary: Research shows that using a fixed time (10 days) as the criterion for ending the isolation of SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals results in low risk of releasing infectious individuals but entails lengthy unnecessary isolations. In contrast, a personalized strategy can achieve similar low risks in a shorter period of isolation.

Summary: This paper proposes an alternative design for agricultural environmental subsidies called PAMR, which models results instead of measuring them, to overcome the practical disadvantages of result-based payments. PAMR combines most of the advantages of result-based and action-based schemes, and has the potential to address trade-offs among multiple policy objectives.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the needs of chronically ill patients for digital alternatives in their patient journey. The results showed that patients would like to see digital alternatives implemented, such as video calls, digital check-ins, self-monitoring, and viewing their own medical status digitally. These digital alternatives can lead to more efficient interactions and better-informed patients.

Summary: This systematic review aims to identify and categorize the events that are consistently or frequently identified as never events, in order to establish a core set of never events. The lack of consensus regarding these events hinders progress in reducing their occurrence and limits collaboration and knowledge sharing among patient safety organizations.

Summary: The study conducted in Taiwan found that participating in a diabetic pay-for-performance program significantly reduced the incidence of major adverse limb events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Additionally, the program was associated with lower risks of major adverse cardiovascular events, systemic thromboembolism, heart failure hospitalization, and all-cause mortality in the diabetic population.

Summary: As intellectuals in modern education systems, we are all outsiders to our own histories, local conditions, and the ordinary people living around us. The establishment of a global Bandung School aims to transform existing modes of thought and continue the anti-imperialism spirit of Bandung. By creating a Mandarin-World Bandung School, the proposal seeks to rediscover the anti-imperialism spirit through locally grounded praxis and intellectual trusteeship. De-imperialization is achievable, and the field of communication plays a critical role in global transformation beyond coloniality.
