Summary: The study investigated the effect of electro-acupuncture on vasomotor symptoms in rats with acute cerebral infarction by observing changes in factors related to the phosphatidylinositol system. Electro-acupuncture treatment at GV 26 effectively decreased over-expression of related factors in the PI system, improved cerebral autonomy movement, and alleviated cerebral vascular spasm.

Summary: Voluntary running exercise improves functional recovery after cerebral infarction by maintaining adaptive remodeling of surviving neural circuitry, contributing to promoting recovery of activities of daily living. The number of basal dendritic spines of layer 5 pyramidal cells in the peri-infarct motor cortex decreased in non-exercised mice but remained normal in exercised mice. This study provides insights into the relationship between rehabilitative intervention, motor function, and pathophysiological remodeling after cerebral infarction.

Summary: This article reviews experimental approaches designed to assess quantitative features of dendritic spines under physiological stimuli and in pathological conditions. By comparing various methodological pipelines and systematically summarizing the methodology and results of relevant experiments, the focus is on quantitative data regarding the number of animals, cells, dendritic spines, types of studied parameters, size of observed changes, and their statistical significance.

Summary: This study aims to compare the efficacy of myofascial acupuncture and routine acupuncture in the treatment of mechanical neck pain (MNP). The study is a multicentre, prospective randomised clinical trial involving 438 participants from four tertiary hospitals in China. The primary outcome measure is the Visual Analogue Scale score, and the secondary outcome measures include the Neck Disability Index, cervical range of motion, and MOS 36-Item Short Form Health Survey.

Summary: The formation between neurons is crucial for proper circuit and brain function. Prior to activity-dependent refinement, activity-independent cues regulate the recognition and contact of potential synaptic partners. The formation of a synapse initiates molecular recognition events and requires contact, selection, and recruitment of synaptic proteins for functional synaptic contact. Key regulators of synaptogenesis include the EphBs and ephrin-Bs, which play important roles in target selection, synaptic protein recruitment, spine formation, and synaptic plasticity. EphBs and ephrin-Bs are also implicated in human neurological diseases. This review focuses on their role at synapses.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment on cerebrovascular reserve in patients with acute cerebral infarction. The primary outcome measure is cerebrovascular reserve, with secondary outcome measures including breath-holding index, Barthel index, and adverse events. The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and the OSF registration number is 10.17605/OSF.IO/7M4BK.

Summary: A 29-year-old patient with thalamencephalic and mesencephalic injury due to electrical trauma showed significant improvement in self-care ability and quality of life after receiving 17 months of manual acupuncture at the National Clinical Research Center for Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Moxibustion. Further research is needed to fully understand the benefits of acupuncture for neurological sequelae resulting from electric shock, and there should be consideration for promoting acupuncture therapy in such cases.

Summary: This study compared the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment on the Nogo/NgR signaling pathway in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The results showed that acupuncture and moxibustion have similar effects on Nogo/NgR signaling pathway inhibition after cerebral infarction.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of electro-acupuncture (EA) on cognitive recovery in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). The results showed that compared with the control group, the EA treatment group had decreased levels of neuron-specific enolase, glial fibrillary acidic protein, hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha, and malondialdehyde, as well as increased scores on the Montreal Cognitive Function Assessment and mini-mental state examination. It was concluded that EA treatment could improve cognitive recovery in patients with mild TBI by improving cerebral hypoxia and alleviating brain injury.

Summary: Mutations in cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) can lead to abnormal synapse formation and maturation, possibly contributing to autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). This study discovered that the DSCAM gene, a high-risk gene for autism, plays a role in preventing premature spine maturation and excessive glutamatergic transmission. Deficiency of DSCAM led to accelerated dendritic spine maturation and autism-like behaviors in mice.

Summary: The study investigated the anatomical features of the vertebral artery V1 segment at the C7 pedicle level in 81 consecutive patients, revealing that in the P group, 20 courses of the VA were relatively close to the C7 entry point, with a risk of HVA presence. CTA should be considered before proceeding with C7 PS instrumentation to avoid unexpected risks.

Summary: The study shows that dietary supplementation with citrate can reduce energy status and extend lifespan in fruit flies, with implications on AMPK, TOR, and ketogenesis at the molecular level. Additionally, mice fed a high-fat diet supplemented with citrate or β-OHB demonstrate improved metabolic health and memory. These findings suggest that dietary citrate supplementation may be a beneficial intervention for age-related dysfunction in the future.
