Summary: Cancer is a heterogeneous disease characterized by various genetic and phenotypic aberrations, and cancer cells meet their uncontrolled proliferation demands through metabolic reprogramming. Despite increasing understanding of tumor metabolism, therapeutic interventions targeting these specific dysregulations have been largely ineffective in clinical trials.

Summary: The study found that trident cold atmospheric plasma (Tri-CAP) can disrupt cancer cells' redox regulation, glycolysis, and proliferative AKT/mTOR/HIF-1 alpha signaling pathways simultaneously, inducing apoptosis in therapy-resistant cancer cells. Tri-CAP selectively targets resistant cancer cells with minimal effects on nonmalignant cells, and demonstrates similar lethality in human melanoma, breast cancer, and CML cells, effectively reducing tumor formation and improving survival in mouse models. Tri-CAP administration may be used extracorporeally for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation therapy, transdermally, or through infusion therapy, suggesting it as a potent strategy for overcoming therapy resistance in various malignancies.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is a highly malignant gastrointestinal tumor that is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, making surgery no longer an option. Autophagy, a metabolic process, plays a dual role in the development of colorectal cancer, both promoting tumorigenesis and inhibiting tumor progression. Researchers have found targeted therapeutic strategies that modulate autophagy, including small molecules, polypeptides, and non-coding RNAs. This review summarizes the key pathways of autophagy in colorectal cancer and discusses current therapeutic strategies.

Summary: The study proposes a novel synergetic nanobomb strategy based on GSH-responsive biodegradation for efficient destruction of tumors. This strategy combines photodynamic therapy with gas therapy and uses reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide to regulate tumor hypoxia and induce tumor cell death, leading to enhanced anti-tumor immune responses.

Summary: The study demonstrated that MnHex can reduce migration and metastasis of breast cancer cells, decrease lung metastasis, and reverse RT-induced EMT by inhibiting the AKT/GSK-3 beta/Snail pathway. This finding is crucial for overcoming the radioresistance of metastatic cancers treated with radiation therapy.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the anti-pancreatic cancer effects of flavonoids in Plumula Nelumbinis. Rhoifolin was found to be the most abundant component and showed the maximum inhibitory effect on cell proliferation. Rhoifolin inhibited cell migration and invasion, and increased the antioxidant capacity. The study also showed that rhoifolin regulated the AKT/JNK/caspase-3 and TGF-beta 2/SMAD2 signaling pathways.
