Summary: Academic research collaborations with the technology industry should be complementary and not replace independent noncollaborative research, especially 'adversarial research' that may conflict with industry interests. It is suggested that research aiming to identify problems should be conducted independently, with industry collaboration occurring after unbiased results are known. A combined approach of noncollaborative and collaborative research may be fruitful, but industry involvement is not always appropriate, as some research questions cannot be objectively answered with industry involvement.

Summary: Based on the social exchange theory, this study examines the relationship among trust in employee, felt trust, and trust in supervisor as well as their effects on frontline hotel employees' customer-focused voice and silence. The findings confirm that reliance-based trust in employee increases trust in supervisor through felt trust. Supervisor trust in employee is generally stronger than employee felt trust. The study also reveals the differential effects of trust-related variables on voice and silence, shedding light on the double-edged effects of felt trust and trust in supervisor.

Summary: The theft of 1.1 million bitcoins between 2013 and 2017 resulted in losses equivalent to $8.9 billion, highlighting the societal impact. The study found that Bitcoin and Ethereum show different responses to uncertainty when hacking incidents occur, but neither exhibit asymmetric responses to negative innovations.

Summary: Regulated firms' mandatory disclosures crowd out unregulated firms' voluntary disclosures, causing the latter to reduce their own disclosures. The strength of the regulatory information spillovers influences the extent to which unregulated firms decrease their disclosures. This substitutive relationship between regulated and unregulated firms' disclosures weakens the impact of disclosure regulation on the overall market-wide information environment.

Summary: The genetic code has degenerate codons that are generally thought to be silent, but some synonymous variants are not silent. In this study, we questioned the frequency of non-silent synonymous variants in HIV Tat transcription factor. We found that approximately 67% of synonymous variants in Tat were nonsilent, and 25% of them were associated with changes in codon usage, potentially affecting protein folding.

Summary: In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning has become a viable alternative to systems biology for understanding biological phenomena and achieving design objectives in synthetic biology. However, there are fundamental and practical challenges in using AI for studying emergent behaviors in chaotic or stochastic biological systems. Without proper consideration of suitability, data quality, and preprocessing approaches, the research and development community may face similar challenges experienced in other fields, known as 'AI winters'. Instead, an integration or combination of both approaches is anticipated for future advancements.

Summary: Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by the Monkeypox virus. The clinical manifestations of human Monkeypox are similar to smallpox, but with the distinguishing sign of early lymphadenopathy. The importance of Monkeypox needs further research to understand its pathogenesis and management.

Summary: To improve the quality in clinical laboratories, reliable methods are needed to quantify and set goals for the performance of measuring systems. The conventional model for calculating total error is flawed and alternative methods, including measurement uncertainty models, are proposed. The present paper critically discusses current methods for establishing performance specifications using sodium concentrations as an example.

Summary: The study shows that the mass growth of compact objects described by the Thakurta metric cannot be supported by radiation, primordial black holes, or particle dark matter. This means that existing constraints on the abundance of primordial black holes from the LIGO-Virgo and CMB measurements remain valid.
