Summary: There are two ATP-dependent proton pumps in plant cells, the Plasma membrane H+-ATPase (PM H+-ATPase) and the vacuolar H+-ATPase (V-ATPase). While the PM H+-ATPase transfers protons from the cytoplasm to the apoplast, the V-ATPase pumps protons into the organelle lumen. These enzymes belong to different protein families and have distinct structures and mechanisms of action. However, they can be regulated by the same mechanisms and may coordinate in certain processes.

Summary: Aviation piston pumps play a crucial role in aircraft hydraulic systems, with the power-to-weight ratio being a key factor in the aviation industry. The study highlights the challenges faced by axial piston pumps under high-speed operating conditions, such as friction loss, cavitation, cylinder overturning, flow pressure pulsation, and noise. The report emphasizes the limitations imposed by the sliding friction pair on increasing the speed and power-to-weight ratio of the piston pump, while also discussing the potential for innovation through novel pump structures like the two-dimensional (2D) piston pump.

Summary: Increasing rotational speed and operating pressure can enhance the power density of axial piston pumps. Nevertheless, standard hollow pistons in axial piston pumps encounter issues like volumetric losses, pressure ripple, and cavitation at high rotational speeds and operating pressures. To mitigate these fluid-related problems, the capped piston design provides a promising alternative by minimizing dead volume. This study aims to elucidate the mechanism behind the improved flow characteristics of axial piston pumps with capped pistons. Computational fluid dynamics simulations demonstrate that capped pistons can notably diminish compressibility effects, pressure ripple, and cavitation across various operating conditions.

Summary: Digital hydraulics is a rapidly developing technology that offers improved system efficiencies, energy savings, increased productivity, and system performance compared to traditional fluid power systems. This study focuses on the implementation of mechanically actuated valving systems in digital radial piston pumps, which have not been explored in prior research. The results show that these systems have high efficiencies across their displacement bandwidth but can still be further optimized. This research serves as the first step in designing an integrated mechanically actuated variable cam system in digital radial piston pumps.

Summary: This study aims to compare the effects of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) on the gut microbiota. The results showed that PPIs had a greater impact on the gut microbiome and oral-to-gut transmission compared to H2RAs. PPI usage led to a significant increase in both the number and total abundance of oral species present in the gut, and gut microbiome-based machine learning classifiers could accurately distinguish PPI users from non-PPI users.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of high-performance pistons on engine performance parameters and proposes the concept of structural efficiency. By defining the restrictive factors affecting piston design and quantifying the benefits of piston design on engine performance parameters, a calculation model is established. The best two schemes are obtained through multiple design iterations and verified by experiments.
