While mean squared error (MSE) is an ideal objective measure of model performance for normally distributed data, it lacks insight into specific aspects of model performance. Decomposing MSE into interpretable components is proposed as a better approach for model benchmarking and interpretation, allowing for a more detailed analysis of model performance.

Summary: This study investigates the acidizing process in two typical core-scale separate-vug porosity systems, revealing that the presence of vug reduces the pore volume of acid solution consumed for breakthrough. Increasing vug diameter and porosity further decreases the pore volume needed for breakthrough, while the acid mass remains relatively unchanged. The presence of vug induces wormhole formation during acidizing, showing different dissolution patterns compared to matrix dissolution.

Summary: Through the study of the physical and mechanical properties of different carbonate rocks after experiencing thermal shock and freeze thaw effects, it was found that the internal structure of the rocks was degraded with increased cycle numbers, leading to significant reductions in physical and mechanical properties. The freeze thaw effect was determined to have a greater impact on the internal structure of carbonate rocks compared to the thermal shock effect, and rocks with fewer flaws in their internal structure were identified as more suitable for building decoration.

Summary: The alkalinity budget of the Baltic Sea is poorly understood, and this study investigates previously unrecognized alkalinity sources, particularly the dissolution of calcium carbonate from eroded carbonate-bearing rocks at the coast and seabed. The study demonstrates that this dissolution is likely the main source of calcium and excess alkalinity in Baltic Sea water, and the deliberate addition of calcium carbonate to sediment could help mitigate CO2 emissions.
