Summary: Nanofiltration membranes were successfully fabricated using multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and the type of carbon nanotubes used significantly influenced the membrane characteristics. The introduction of carbon with carboxylic or amine groups altered the surface morphology of the membranes. Additionally, membranes modified with carboxylic groups exhibited higher water permeability.

Summary: This paper investigates the use of Ni-Zn MOF embedded membranes for the rejection of Pb(II) ions in aqueous solution. The study finds that the prepared Ni-Zn MOF membranes show a maximum rejection rate of 98% for Pb(II) ions at an appropriate concentration and pH, with assistance from PVP. Additionally, blend membranes exhibit better rejection performance compared to pure PSF membranes.

Summary: New antimicrobial packaging films were prepared using a blend of NCg:Ag and PLA, resulting in smaller particle size and improved mechanical and oxygen barrier properties. The released Ag+ at approximately 100 ng/cm(2) demonstrated effective inhibition of microbial growth. The blended film exhibited more than 99% reduction in bacterial cell numbers, showing strong antimicrobial activity.

Summary: Nowadays, the use of nanostructured membranes in water treatment has become a competitive necessity. In this study, a nanocomposite of carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes and MIL-53(Al) was introduced as a modifier for polyethersulfone-based nanofiltration membrane. The modified membrane showed improved porosity, hydrophilicity, and water flux, as well as enhanced removal efficiency for dyes and bioactive materials.

Summary: In this study, a Pore Structure Control Agent (PSCA) was proposed to adjust the pore structure of hydrogels and quickly solve the problem of heavy metal pollution. The addition of PSCS 2 wt% resulted in completed adsorption in 20 minutes. The prepared hydrogels using different raw materials showed adsorption capacities greater than 750 mg/g for Cr(VI), Cu(II), and Ni(II).

Summary: This study used the aqueous solution-cast process to prepare organic-inorganic nanocomposite materials, and investigated the influence of silver nanoparticles on the material properties. The addition of silver nanoparticles changed the structural behavior of the Cs/PAM blend, resulting in amorphous films. The addition of silver nanoparticles also improved the optical and electrical properties of the material.

Summary: Buckypaper membranes were prepared by dispersing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in the presence of surfactants (Triton X-100) and (PVA). The incorporation of Triton X-100 and PVA surfactants improved the permeability and rejection efficiency of the MWCNTs. The membranes showed high rejection performance for heavy metal ions and potential applications.

Summary: Chitosan/DNA blend hydrogel and chitosan/pectin blend hydrogel were synthesized for releasing methylene blue, and characterized by various techniques. The study revealed that the methylene blue loading had different impacts on the hydrogels, with higher release rates observed in simulated gastric fluid. The release kinetics of methylene blue in the hydrogels followed a pseudo-second-order mechanism.

Summary: A carbon quantum dot-based chitosan hydrogel was prepared as a fluorescence sensor for the selective sensing of Hg2+ ions, demonstrating remarkable sensitivity and selectivity. The hydrogel showed the highest fluorescence intensity and sensitivity at pH 5.0, with a linear response range of 0-100.0 nM and a detection limit of 9.07 nM. The excellent sensing selectivity was attributed to the strong interaction between the hydrogel film and Hg2+ ions, with a higher interaction energy compared to Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions according to density functional theory (DFT) calculation.
