Summary: The research team has successfully developed a pH sensor formed by self-assembly of a phospholipid monolayer on the surface of upconversion nanoparticles, which can rapidly and accurately sense and image the changes in intracellular pH levels. The sensor exhibits excellent reversibility and response speed, can measure pH fluctuations within cells, and map spatial and temporal pH changes inside cells.

Summary: In this study, ratiometric pH sensors with high dynamic ranges and dual-emission properties were developed for monitoring intra- and extracellular pH. These sensors can be applied in live-cell fluorescence microscopy and ratiometric flow cytometry to track pH changes in cells and culture chambers. The sensors also offer the potential to determine internalization rates, a promising parameter for characterizing protein-drug conjugates in cancer therapy.

Summary: Genetically encoded sensors with a modular design have been developed for ratiometric and multiplexed imaging of small molecules in live cells. The sensors use aptazyme as a recognition module and light-up RNA aptamer as a signal reporter. The design allows for quantitative imaging and detection of small molecules, and the versatility of the approach is demonstrated by replacing the aptazymes for imaging different molecules.

Summary: A quenchbody (Q-body) is an immunosensor that can recover fluorescence in the presence of an antigen, offering a simple and rapid system for antigen detection. The BRET Q-body, which fuses luciferase NanoLuc to a Q-body, can detect antigens based on the bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) principle and produce higher responses due to increased BRET efficiency. This new biosensor is promising for point-of-care tests without the need for an external light source.

Summary: In this study, ZnO/SiC nanowire heterojunctions with various ZnO piezoelectric shell thicknesses were constructed to improve the sensitivity of semiconductor pressure sensors' piezoresistive behavior. By optimizing the piezoresistive coefficient and ΔR/R₀ value through adjusting the ZnO nanolayer thickness, a novel strategy for exploring advanced SiC-based pressure sensors was proposed.

Summary: A new coating procedure for optical fibre sensors suitable for protein analytes detection was presented in this study. The detection of streptavidin by binding to functionalised D-biotin was demonstrated, with stability to washing and long-term exposure to water. Different coating methods were employed to isolate SBP-biotin on the outer surface of the silk layer for optimal detection.

Summary: A lysosome-targeted fluorescent probe Lyso-CMCP was developed for real-time monitoring pH changes in living cells. This probe showed sensitive and selective response to acidic pH and had favorable features including good photostability, reversibility, anti-interference ability, and low cytotoxicity. The lysosomal pH fluctuations were successfully monitored and quantified by ratiometric fluorescence imaging using this probe.

Summary: This study prepared red-emitting rod-type aggregates L and found that the restriction of intramolecular motion and the ESIPT phenomenon played a key role in emitting red fluorescence at 597 nm. The aggregates L showed red-emitting fluorescence between pH 5.4 and 9.1, green-emitting fluorescence above pH 9.9, and non-fluorescent behavior in acidic pH. L in HEPES buffer showed a selective turn-off response towards Cu2+ with a detection limit of 2.7 μM.

Summary: This paper presents a facile screen-printed carbon nanotube electrode on porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) for rapid gas sensing. The sensor showed enhanced electrochemical performance for gas detection and good sensitivity and linearity in tests. Due to the unique porous substrate, the response time of the sensor can be as low as around 14 seconds, making it promising for wearable gas sensing and acute gas exposure alerting.
