The novel species Agaricus lamelliperditus and A. colpeteii are described and illustrated, and affinities to other taxa determined by analysis of ITS sequence data. Both taxa resemble several other recently described Australian sequestrate Agaricus species, in particular A. pachydermus, A. wariatodes and A. chartaceus, which all have a powdery hymenophore from very early stages of basidiome formation. Both novel species have affinities to section Minores.

Summary: Agaricus xanthodermus and other species in the yellow-staining section Xanthodermatei are responsible for mushroom-related poisoning cases, showing variation in toxicity levels potentially influenced by basidiomatal structures, developmental stages, tissue types consumed, and nutritional substrates. Phenol concentration, along with other factors, may contribute to the observed differences in toxicity, with human sensitivity to simple phenols also playing a role.

Summary: In order to document sequestrate fungal diversity in American tropical regions, researchers conducted field surveys in southeastern Mexico and discovered two new species in the phalloid genus Restingomyces. These species were characterized based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses, and both were found in medium-statured tropical dry forest. The original diagnosis of the genus Restingomyces was emended to include these novel species, with illustrations provided.
