Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) has been associated with a heterogeneous spectrum of pathologies with in increasing number of reports of Alzheimer's type pathology. There is, however, no means of predicting pathology of CBS in vivo at present. We compared the clinical features of patients presenting with CBS who have either pathologic changes of classic corticobasal degeneration (CBD) or Alzheimer's disease (AD) at post-mortem to identify predictors of the specific pathological processes in life. Twelve patients with CBS were followed prospectively six had AD and six had classic CBD neuropathology. After review of the presenting clinical features, we identified nine potential predictor variables, compared their frequency in the two groups. and performed a discriminant analysis. Initial episodic memory complaints and poor performance on the combined orientation-memory subtest of the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination (ACE) reliably predicted AD pathology while varying combinations of early frontal-lobe type behavioral symptoms, nonfluent language disturbance. orobuccal apraxia. and utilization behavior predicted CBD pathology ante-mortem. CBS is frequently associated with Alzheimer's disease pathologgy. Early episodic memory impairment versus early behavioral symphomatology appears to best predict AD or CBD pathology in life. Do Academic Stress, Burnout and Problematic Internet Use Affect Perceived Learning? Evidence from India during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Savitha Basri, Iqbal Thonse Hawaldar, Raveendranath Nayak, Habeeb Ur Rahiman

Summary: Distress and problematic internet use in online classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic have led to student burnout and affected perceived learning. A study in India found that psychological stress, academic burnout, and resilience have direct and indirect effects on perceived learning. Burnout acts as a complete mediator in the relationship between stress and perceived learning. Changing educational policies and implementing prevention strategies can address this societal problem.

Basri Savitha, Iqbal Thonse Hawaldar, Naveen K. Kumar

Summary: This study aims to identify the determinants of continuance intentions to use FinTech P2P payment apps in India. The findings show that confirmation of prior expectations and post-adoption perceived usefulness play a decisive role in the continuance intention to use FinTech payment services. Cognitive acceptance and normative acceptance not only determine behavioral acceptance but also influence continuance intentions. Satisfaction and post-purchase perceived usefulness are determined by the confirmation of initial expectations. Fulfilling users' post-purchase expected benefits, fostering trust, and social influence are key practical implications for ensuring the continuous use of FinTech P2P services.

Customer Empowerment and Engagement Behaviours Influencing Value for FinTech Customers: An Empirical Study from India

Archana Nayak Kini, Savitha Basri

Summary: The article investigates the influence of consumer empowerment on customer engagement behaviors (CEBs) and their impact on customer value in India's FinTech industry. A cross-sectional analytical study collected data from 380 Indian FinTech app users through a survey questionnaire. The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method was used to test the conceptual model. This study, one of the first conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, reveals that customer-empowered behaviors predict positive CEBs, such as reviews and testimonials, which in turn contribute to customer value. The indirect effects suggest that CEB mediates the relationship between customer empowerment and value. This research also validates customer engagement behavior as a formative higher-order construct comprised of four dimensions: customers' social media influence, form/modality, scope, and channel of engagement. To create customer value, practitioners and e-marketers in the FinTech industry should foster online communities, identify and manage customers' need for control and empowerment, and design customized marketing strategies accordingly. The study provides guidance for academicians and researchers in developing engagement models that encourage positive CEBs, including e-word of mouth, customer reviews, and testimonials.

Competition reduces profitability: the case of the Indian life microinsurance industry

Subrato Banerjee, Basri Savitha

Summary: This research investigates the impact of market and firm-level concentration on return on equity in the Indian life microinsurance industry. The findings suggest that companies in the Indian LMI market perform better financially when competitive pressures are lower. Concentration has a positive effect on performance in this industry, while market share has a negative impact, indicating that LMI-specialized insurers in India outperform diversified insurers.
