Summary: The study revealed a positive correlation between Se content and anti-tumor effects of Se-polysaccharides, suggesting that adjusting Se content could enhance the anti-tumor activities. SeASPs showed potent anti-proliferation activities against tumor cells by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, while displaying low cytotoxicity against normal cells. This suggests that SeASPs could be a promising candidate for anti-tumor therapy with potential to be more effective than traditional treatments.

Summary: Cancer incidence is increasing globally, causing significant physical, mental, and financial burdens. Conventional cancer treatments have limitations such as drug resistance and side effects. Chemoprevention, including the use of natural compounds like pterostilbene, shows promise in reducing the cancer burden. Pterostilbene has various pharmacological properties and can induce apoptosis to prevent cancer progression. This review discusses pterostilbene's role as a chemopreventive agent against different types of cancer by modulating the apoptosis pathway at the molecular level.
