Summary: The study found that cover crops can effectively increase nitrogen retention, especially in the belowground N pool. In the cover crop treatments, 25% more nitrogen was recovered compared to the control group, and spring termination of red clover resulted in the highest belowground nitrogen retention.

Summary: This study investigates the nitrogen removal capability of mangrove wetland system in Shenzhen's Deep Bay, revealing significant removal of ammonia and nitrate in marine water mainly through denitrification and anammox processes. The denitrification rates in mangroves are higher than in mud flat areas, while anammox rates are not higher. The study also identifies denitrifying and anammox bacteria genera in the systems, improving our understanding of coastal wetlands' nitrogen removal characteristics.

Summary: The stable isotope N-15 is a valuable tool for studying the nitrogen cycle in terrestrial ecosystems. Advancements in isotope-ratio mass spectrometry have made accurate measurements of delta N-15 more accessible. The central aim of experiments using N-15 as a tracer is to quantitatively determine the fate of nitrogen in ecosystems and make inferences about the nitrogen cycle.

Summary: Si availability may affect the uptake and assimilation of different forms of inorganic N by plants. This study found that bamboo had higher inorganic N root uptake and assimilation rates compared to other species. Si supply did not change the overall uptake and assimilation rates, but it slightly increased NO3--N uptake and assimilation rates in some species. These findings have implications for coexistence and competition between bamboo and other trees.

Summary: The study showed that the addition of C6-HSL or C8-HSL can significantly improve the performance of anammox bioreactors at 15 degrees C, increasing total nitrogen removal efficiency and extracellular polymeric substances content. Additionally, genes associated with nitrogen removal and metabolic pathways were found to be upregulated with the addition of these substances.

Summary: This study investigates the kinetics of glycation formation in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cultivations using Adalimumab as a model protein. The study finds that the relationship between the product of glucose and non-glycated protein and the glycated protein is not linear, suggesting the need for reconsideration of the kinetic equation. Additionally, the study demonstrates that process knowledge derived from dynamic experiments can be applied to static experiments.

Summary: Full quantum reaction probabilities were reported for the N-15 + (NN)-N-14-N-14 inelastic and reactive collision processes using hyperspherical coordinates and time-independent quantum mechanics. The study focused on the ortho molecular nitrogen species with even rotational quantum number j = 0, 2, ... states. Comparison with previous works using time-dependent wave packet and quasi-classical trajectory methods for N-14 + (NN)-N-14-N-14 fully symmetric collision was provided. Reactive processes involving atom exchange were found to not occur for collision energies below 2.2 eV, while collisions at energies around 2.0 eV were most effective for populating reactants' rovibrational states and those at energies close to 5.0 eV yielded a newly formed (NN)-N-14-N-15 isotopologue in various excited vibrational levels.

Summary: We propose for cardiac electrophysiology (EP) simulations a simple and efficient adaptive time stepping scheme based on standard operator splitting techniques. The time step length of the operator splitting scheme is controlled as a function of the reaction magnitude, in addition to adapting the reaction time step. The proposed scheme outperforms common adaptive time stepping techniques and allows for precise computation of full cardiac cycles in a realistic biventricular setup.

Summary: This paper examines the radical polymerization of methyl acrylate (MA) and N-tert-butylacrylamide (t-BuAAm) in water and ethanol solvents to demonstrate successful synthesis of commercially valuable copolymers. The experiments show that the product molar masses and composition remain stable under various operating conditions. Additionally, the experiments provide data on the influence of solvents on the polymerization rate and copolymer properties, and a previously developed model accurately describes the semi-batch operation.

Summary: A series of Pt/HPMo/SBA-15 catalysts were prepared with pore size as a single variable to investigate the internal diffusion effect on the hydrotreatment of n-C16. A novel model was developed to calculate the Weisz-Prater number, which showed improved accuracy compared to traditional models. It was found that the formation of m-i-C16 is more susceptible to internal diffusion than the consumption of n-C16, and a pore size of not less than 10 nm is required to avoid step-limitation of internal diffusion.
