Summary: This study found that cathepsin G (Cat G), a protease highly expressed in breast cancer cells, induces cell migration and aggregation. Platelet-activating factor (PAF)-acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH), an enzyme responsible for PAF degradation, is involved in Cat G-induced aggregation and migration of breast cancer cells. Inhibition of PAFAH1B2 suppresses Cat G-induced migration and aggregation. These findings may contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for breast cancer treatment.

Summary: The study evaluated the chemical composition and cytotoxic effects of acai seed extract on breast cancer cell line MCF-7. It was found that acai seed extract showed cytotoxic effects against MCF-7 cells, induced morphologic changes through autophagy, and increased ROS production. In addition to its antioxidant activity, flavonoids in acai also generated NO, contributing to its cytotoxic effects and autophagy induction.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer worldwide, and resistance to the first-line chemotherapeutic agent Adriamycin is a common cause of treatment failure. The study focuses on the role of oxidative stress factors ROS and NRF2 in breast cancer and aims to develop therapeutic drugs that can enhance chemotherapy sensitivity. The combination of ADR and CYT showed potent anti-breast cancer activity by inhibiting cell activity, inducing apoptosis, and blocking the cell cycle in breast cancer cells through ROS generation and the P62/NRF2/HO-1 signaling pathway. The effectiveness of ADR + CYT in suppressing tumor development was also observed in breast cancer-bearing mice.

Summary: The study investigated the anticancer activity of Ps-AgNPs synthesized from phenolic extract of lichen Parmelia sulcata, showing toxicity against cancer cells but not normal cells, inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and downregulating inflammatory and cell cycle genes to promote intrinsic apoptotic pathway. The results indicate that Ps-AgNPs are effective in killing cancer cells and can serve as an alternative therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.

Summary: The study assessed the cytotoxicity of Dorycnium pentaphyllum subsp. haussknechtii against breast cell lines and found significant antiproliferative effects, particularly attributed to quercetin. The extract effectively induced tumor cell death without cytotoxicity to healthy cells. These findings suggest that the extraction of D. pentaphyllum subsp. haussknechtii could be a promising strategy to isolate biomolecules with cytotoxic effects against breast cancer cells, with quercetin playing a key role in this process.

In this study, the sea cucumber intestinal peptide (SCIP) extracted from sea cucumber intestines showed potential anti-cancer effects by inhibiting tumor cell growth and promoting apoptosis, possibly via the inhibition of the PI3K/AKT signal transduction pathway.

Summary: A Faraday cage-type electrochemiluminescence biosensor was developed for the detection of MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Fe3O4-APTs and GO@PTCA-APTs were synthesized as capture and signal units, respectively. The sensor achieved a significant increase in sensitivity by assembling numerous electrochemiluminescence signal probes and adopting a double aptamer recognition strategy.
