Summary: This study investigates the influence of nano-calcium carbonate and PVA fiber on the properties of geopolymer mortar. It was found that a fiber factor of 0.8 vol.% promotes flowability, while a fiber factor of 1.6 vol.% in combination with nano-calcium carbonate also improves flowability. The optimal fiber factor range for PVA fiber in cement and geopolymer mortar is approximately 400% and higher than 600%, respectively.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of CO2-mixing dose and prolonged mixing time on the properties of cement pastes. It is found that CO2-mixing can make the pastes stiffer and more difficult to handle, leading to a negative effect on mechanical strength. However, prolonging the mixing time can improve workability and increase early-age compressive strength.

Summary: This study evaluates the action mechanisms of flow-aids on granular flows, finding that friction plays no role and flow enhancement is mainly related to microscopic grain-level surface properties. A formulation strategy focusing on surface coverage is suggested to mitigate potential risks.

Summary: In this study, a novel modifier, JST9001, was used for dry modification of ground calcium carbonate (GCC) for the fabrication of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) composites. The results showed that the low dosage (0.50 wt%) of JST9001 achieved excellent modification effect on GCC, leading to improved mechanical properties and thermal stability of the modified GCC/PVC composites. This research demonstrates the potential of the novel modifier to enhance the performance of GCC/PVC composites while reducing costs.

Summary: The study has successfully developed a novel process to transform water-absorbing polyester fabric into a water-resistant textile by using an ultra-thin layer of surface-modified superhydrophobic precipitated calcium carbonate. The treated fabric exhibited different levels of hydrophobic and superhydrophobic properties under varying experimental conditions. The hydrophobic layer showed self-cleaning behavior and retained reasonable durability after mechanical abrasion and washings tests.

Summary: Inverse gas chromatography (IGC) is used to investigate the flotation of sulphide minerals, focusing on the surface energetics and its correlation to flotation response. The floatability of concentrates is directly related to surface energy, while the flotation response of tailings is inconsistent. The study also observes the impact of sample composition and particle size distribution on the surface energy-flotation response relationship.

Summary: This research focuses on pyrolysis of rubber tire waste to produce recovered carbon black (rCB) for creating an rCB masterbatch for household packaging. The study investigates the mechanical properties, morphology, melt flow index, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis of LDPE/rCB masterbatch composites with different systems of coated and uncoated calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The coated system demonstrates higher mechanical properties, improved compatibility, enhanced thermal stability, and melt flow index compared to virgin LDPE, showcasing the potential of LDPE/rCB masterbatch composites for household packaging.
