SnO2-V2O5 composite oxides in three different ratios 1 : 1, 1 : 2 and 2 : 1 were prepared by a hydrothermal method. These synthesised composites were characterised by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectra. The results showed that the hydrothermal method was easy and efficient for synthesising highly dispersed SnO2 nanoparticles on V2O5 . The electrochemical property of the SnO2-V2O5-CNT composites has been investigated. The specific capacitance of the new composites was significantly improved (156.25 F g(-1)) compared to the single metal oxides. The high capacitance was mainly derived from the specific surface area and pore size effect of CNTs and the pseudo-capacitance of SnO2-V2O5 . Therefore, the SnO2-V2O5-CNT nanocomposites can be a potential electrode materials applied in the capacitors.
