Summary: This study successfully prepared magnetically separable CoFe2O4-ZnO hybrid nanostructures and characterized their structure and morphology using various techniques. CoFe2O4-ZnO exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance compared to pristine CoFe2O4 due to its high light utilization ability and heterojunction formation that delayed charge carrier recombination. The study provides an efficient solution for sunlight-responsive magnetically separable CoFe2O4-ZnO photocatalyst in wastewater purification.

Summary: This study investigates the synthesis and characterization of Ni1-2xGdxRuxO nanoparticles with different concentrations of Gd and Ru dual dopants. The results show that the incorporation of dual dopants enhances the dielectric and electrical properties of the samples by inducing nickel vacancies and increasing the surface-to-volume ratio. The ac conductivity can be tuned by varying the dual dopants' concentration.

Summary: This work demonstrates the enhancement in plasmonic sensing efficacy by spatially-localized functionalization on nanostructured surfaces, where probe molecules are concentrated in areas of high field concentration. SERS measurements on nanostructured surfaces with homogeneous and spatially-localized functionalization with thiophenol show that the Raman signal mainly originates from high field concentration areas. TERS measurements with 10 nm spatial resolution confirm the predicted field distribution profiles.

Summary: A temperature dependent Raman spectromicroscopic study was conducted on multiwall carbon nanotubes to investigate anharmonic effects, revealing non-linear shifts in the peak position of Raman D- and G-bands with temperature. Phonon softening and hardening of Raman modes were observed over a wide temperature range, with the G-peak shift explained by anharmonic properties of the graphite lattice. The width variation of the G-peak appeared to be nearly independent of temperature due to competing effects from electron-phonon coupling and anharmonic contributions.

Summary: By using a cost-effective room temperature reactive ion etching method, we designed and fabricated the black silicon (bSi) surface profile, which provides the maximum Raman signal enhancement under near-infrared (NIR) excitation when a nanometrically-thin gold layer is deposited. The proposed bSi substrates are reliable, uniform, low cost, and effective for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-based detection, making these materials essential for medicine, forensics, and environmental monitoring.

Summary: High quality nanocrystalline CdS thin films with different Cu doping concentrations were successfully fabricated on glass slides using the sol-gel spin-coating technique. The Cu doping was found to significantly impact the structural, optical, and electrical properties of the films, as evidenced by XRD, Raman spectra, UV-visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and photoconductivity studies. The results showed that Cu doping led to a decrease in crystallite size, an increase in optical band gap, and enhanced luminescence intensity in the CdS thin films.

Summary: In recent years, noble metal nanoparticle-based periodic nanoarrays known as photonic crystals have attracted attention for their potential to enhance electric nearfield for visible light and serve as sensitive SERS substrates. The ENFE in Au and Ag nanodisks-based photonic crystals was analyzed using FDTD method. The study found that the ENFE strongly depends on the geometrical parameters, with factors up to 1200 observed for the visible light spectrum. The effects of nanodisks surface curvature-based defects on the ENFE were also investigated.

Summary: In this study, a composite electrode composed of Ti/TiH2/beta-PbO2_Mn3O4@C was fabricated and investigated for zinc electrowinning. The composite electrode exhibited low overpotential, Tafel slope, icorr, and high voltage stability, outperforming most reported Ti-based PbO2 electrode materials. The excellent catalytic activity can be attributed to the low resistance and porous interlayer of TiH2 nanosheets, as well as the addition of Mn3O4@C micro-flakes to the active layer.
