Summary: Plant extracts as green corrosion inhibitors have high potential for protection of ferrous metal alloys, with their high inhibition efficiency attributed to the high concentration of phytochemicals. Further research and improvement are necessary to achieve inhibition efficiency close to 100%.

Summary: The effects of various alloying elements on the corrosion resistance of iron matrix material were investigated using high-throughput density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Correlations between calculated parameters and experimentally measurable values were established to predict polarization curves and simulate corrosion behavior. The results showed that doping with certain elements can reduce the corrosion current density and improve the corrosion resistance of iron matrix.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the localized corrosion behavior and microstructure of an Al-2.23Cu-0.96Li (wt%) alloy using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that the GPB zones in the alloy do not significantly affect the overall propagation direction of crystallographic corrosion, but are closely related to the formation of nanoscale localized corrosion morphology in the crystallographic corrosion.

Summary: Two oriented 2D nanocrystalline Zn-Al Layered Double Hydroxides films were successfully prepared on an AZ91D magnesium alloy using a facile hydrothermal crystallization method, with one film oriented perpendicular to the substrate and one parallel to it. The perpendicular oriented film demonstrated a significantly reduced corrosion current density and increased Rct in EIS, showing effective protection of the underlying metal surface from corrosion by limiting the penetration of aggressive ions.

Summary: The study demonstrates that using friction stir welding (FSW) can successfully weld magnesium alloy plates with a thickness of 11.5 mm, achieving high joint efficiency and excellent weld integrity. Proper optimization of rotational speed and traverse speed is crucial for welding quality, and dynamic recrystallization reduces the grain size significantly in the stir zone.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanical properties, biodegradability and biocompatibility of Zn-Mg and Zn-Cu alloys for potential use in bioresorbable cardiovascular stents. The addition of Mg or Cu alloying elements refines the microstructure of Zn while improving yield strength and ultimate tensile strength. Both Zn-1Mg and Zn-Cu alloys showed promising results in terms of degradation stability and antibacterial effects.

Summary: This review article summarizes the advances, opportunities, and recent progress in green and sustainable corrosion inhibitors for non-ferrous metals and alloys in different corrosive environments. The use of organic compounds from plant extracts with multiple functional groups and heteroatoms has shown promising corrosion inhibition properties, reducing metal deterioration effectively. The discussion also touches upon the application of density functional theory in predicting the inhibition efficiency of green inhibitors and the non-toxic nature of phytochemicals making them suitable candidates for environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors.

Summary: Alloying with V and Ti elements affects the oxidation behavior of WMoTaNb RHEAs. The addition of V aggravates the volatility of oxides and leads to disastrous internal oxidation. The addition of Ti reduces the mass gain in forming the oxide scale and prolongs the passivation duration.

Summary: The energy and environmental issues of China's non-ferrous metals industry have attracted increasing attention. A non-cooperative game network data envelopment analysis model is developed to evaluate the energy and environmental efficiency of the industry. The results show that the efficiency is very low and the efficiency gap between two sub-stages increases over time. The efficiency in eastern region is more affected by the mining and processing stage, while the efficiency in central and western regions is greatly influenced by the smelting and pressing stage.

Summary: High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have emerged as a research hotspot in the field of metal materials in the past decade. They exhibit much better corrosion resistance than traditional corrosion-resistant metal materials and the correlation among composition, microstructure, and corrosion resistance of HEAs has been revealed. The influence of heat treatment, anodizing treatment, and preparation methods on the corrosion behavior of HEAs has also been elaborated.
