Summary: Four pathogenic Vibrio species were isolated from diseased black rockfish in Yantai, China. These strains were identified as V. scophthalmi, V. harveyi, V. alginolyticus, and V. parahaemolyticus. V. scophthalmi was isolated from black rockfish for the first time. The strains showed various virulence genes and resistance to antibiotics.

Summary: This study identifies and characterizes two spliced transcripts of SOCS1, SsSOCS1a and SsSOCS1b, in black rockfish. These transcripts are expressed in immune-related tissues and function as negative regulators of interferon signaling. Additionally, SsSOCS1a and SsSOCS1b interact with each other.

Summary: The aim of this study was to identify suitable reference genes for normalizing the expression levels of miRNA in different developmental stages and tissues. Five algorithms were used for stability analysis, and the results identified mtr-MIR160b-p3 and gma-miR394a-5p as the most stable miRNAs during bud development in early-flowering tree peony 'Feng dan', while PC-5p-19095 was the most stable during bud development in late-flowering tree peony 'Lian he'. Additionally, mtr-miR159a was found to be the most stable miRNA during flower development stages of different tree peony varieties.

Summary: This study used transcriptomic high-throughput analysis to identify a subset of stably expressed genes from different developmental stages of the gut and associated-bacteriomes of Sitophilus oryzae, which can be used as reference genes in qRT-PCR experiments. Two genes, TAO and YTH3, were selected as suitable genes for comparing transcript abundance in symbiotic and aposymbiotic insects at various developmental stages. These well-conserved genes have the potential to be applied in other insect species, emphasizing the importance of using unbiased methods for reference gene selection.

Summary: Results from a series of experiments on black rockfish show that boldness is significantly positively correlated with aggressiveness, metabolic rate, and stressed locomotor activity, while negatively correlated with stressed opercular beat rate. Bold fish exhibit higher aggressiveness and metabolic rate, and lower stressed opercular beat rate, with no significant correlations with basal locomotor activity or basal cortisol level. These findings suggest that boldness can be used as a tool to predict fish aggressiveness and metabolic rate in aquaculture.

Summary: This study identified stable reference genes in seven tissues across four developmental stages in minipigs, which can be used to evaluate mRNA expression levels. HPRT1 and 18S were found to be the most stable genes. The expression levels of ACE2 in the intestine and kidney increased significantly at PND28, consistent with the ACE2 expression pattern in humans.

Summary: The study identified SsCL-11 as a member of the collectin family in black rockfish, which plays an important role in pathogen recognition and resistance. SsCL-11 exhibits the highest expression in the liver and shows induced expression in immune-related tissues following infection. It also has binding abilities to various carbohydrates, PAMPs, and bacteria, and can agglutinate bacteria in the presence of Ca2+.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of extrusion technology on the growth performance and digestive physiology of rockfish. The results show that small particle size and low extrusion pressure can enhance fish weight gain and plasma growth-related hormone activity. Furthermore, small particle size and low extrusion pressure also increase intestinal digestive activity and positively affect growth. It suggests that adjusting the physical pellet qualities through extrusion pressure and raw material particle size can improve the growth performance and digestive physiology of rockfish, which is important for feed manufacturing.

Summary: Using culture-independent metagenomic sequencing, the study investigated the rhizosphere microbiome of high-Zn (HZn) and low-Zn (LZn) wheat cultivars in calcareous soils, finding that most rhizosphere-enriched microbes were common between HZn and LZn, with potential Zn-mobilizing species positively correlated with grain Zn concentration. This suggests that certain Zn-mobilizing species, particularly Massilia and Pseudomonas, may impact grain Zn concentration and merit further exploration in Zn biofortification studies.

Summary: This study examines the genetic pathogenesis of dual oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and hypopharyngeal cancer (HPC) through multiple region whole-exome sequencing and clonality analysis. The findings suggest that the two primary tumours have distinct genetic profiles and do not share significant clones. Additionally, high intratumour heterogeneity is associated with relapse and survival.
