Summary: The immune response of adipose tissue, specifically the presence of B cells and their secretion of specific antibodies, has been investigated in rainbow trout. The study found that adipose tissue contains B cell subsets that show a higher capacity for antibody secretion compared to blood B cells. These specific differentiated B cells in adipose tissue function as a secondary lymphoid organ and contribute to the immune response to peritoneal antigens.

Summary: Researchers used video techniques to assess fish assemblages in subtidal and intertidal habitats, but faced issues with time-consuming data processing and processing bottlenecks. This study identified the optimal subsampling method using RUV footage and bootstrapping techniques, providing valuable methodology recommendations for assessing fish assemblages in shallow intertidal habitats.

Summary: The study introduces a multifunctional noncontact scanning probe that allows precise manipulation of living single cells within their physiological tissue environment. The technology showcases adjustable spatial ability by transfecting adjacent single cells with different DNA plasmid vectors.

Summary: The study compared deployment times of BRUVs in temperate, sub-tropical, and tropical locations along the west coast of Australia. The optimal deployment times were found to be 30 minutes and 45 minutes for sub-tropical and tropical locations, while at least 60 minutes was required for temperate locations. Most species and individuals were observed within 15 minutes, but larger-bodied target species may continue to arrive up to 45-60 minutes.

Summary: Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding has been used in this study to monitor invasive fish species in a large aquarium, revealing more non-indigenous species and detecting local fishes not identified by morphological characterization. However, OTU diversity varied within stations and sample replications, indicating the need for increased sampling effort and negative controls to improve detection rates.

Summary: This study conducted 80 autopsies using ultrasound-guided MITS in patients with COVID-19 and found it to be a safe and highly accurate procedure, providing a systemic view of the disease and identifying pathogens effectively. The data showed that US-guided MITS has the capacity similar to CDA not only to identify but also to characterize emergent diseases.

Summary: A moving string sampling probe and a new ESI based ionization source have been developed for in vivo mass spectrometry during endoscopic procedures. The sampling process is performed using a medical-grade silk suture driven by a stepping motor, while the ionization takes place in a dedicated ionization region inside the ion inlet tube. This method allows for optimization of ionization using organic solvents, high voltage, and heating without compromising the biocompatibility of the sampling probe.

Summary: Stable isotope analysis is commonly used in aquatic ecology to study food-web dynamics. This study found that fin tissue can be used as an alternative nonlethal sampling method for stable isotope analysis. Existing lipid correction equations have errors and site-specific calibration is recommended.

Summary: The study aimed to understand genetic connectivity and diversity patterns of a broadcast spawning coral across a tropical-temperate transition zone in Western Australia. Results showed strong genetic connectivity in tropical populations of Turbinaria 'reniformis' in Western Australia, extending to a southern limit at sub-tropical Shark Bay, while temperate populations were genetically isolated from their tropical counterparts.
