Summary: The oyster protein hydrolysate (OPH) was found to have significant hepatoprotective effects and the potential to ameliorate alcoholic liver disease (ALD). OPH treatment reduced liver injury markers, increased hepatic function markers, and alleviated hepatocyte injury and lipid droplet accumulation in mice with ALD. Transcriptome and proteome analysis revealed that OPH targeted genes and proteins related to lipid metabolism and inflammatory response pathways. The study also found that OPH treatment decreased total lipid, total cholesterol, triglyceride, interleukin 1 beta (IL-1 beta), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) levels in the liver. In conclusion, OPH has potent hepatoprotective activities and can be used as a novel functional ingredient for the management of ALD.

This study used long-read SMRT sequencing to amplify VDJ-C sequences from BALB/c mice and identified strain variations in specific immunoglobulin genes. By computationally retrieving IGHV haplotypes, a set of expressed BALB/c IGHV germline gene sequences was established. The study also assessed the suitability of assemblies from the Mouse Genome Project for the determination of IGH loci genes.

Structural analysis revealed that hydrophobic peptides could form complexes with zinc ions through covalent chelating reactions and coordination bonds. These findings could be applied for the development of dietary zinc supplements.

Summary: This study demonstrated that collagen hydrolysates containing OG peptides have antiplatelet and anti-atherosclerotic activities. Peptide OG-5 inhibits platelet aggregation and tail thrombosis formation by targeting P2Y12 receptors and regulating signaling pathways. It also inhibits the release of inflammatory cytokines and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells. These findings suggest that collagen hydrolysates with OG peptides could be developed as a dietary supplement to prevent atherogenesis and thrombotic disease.
