Summary: Unlike single-gene mutations leading to Mendelian conditions, common human diseases are likely to be emergent phenomena arising from multilayer, multiscale, and highly interconnected interactions. Summary: This study conducted a single-step genome-wide association study (ssGWAS) to analyze the genetic basis of beef bull semen attributes. The results revealed several significant SNP near or within quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with beef bull semen attributes. In addition, genes associated with fertility were found to contain or be near the significant SNP identified in this study. The findings indicate that there are specific regions in the genome that impact fertility, and incorporating genomic information into genetic evaluation could be beneficial for improving male fertility traits.

Summary: In this study, single-trait and multi-trait genome-wide association studies were performed to investigate the genetics of chest circumference, abdominal circumference, and waist circumference in Duroc pigs. A novel quantitative trait locus on Sus scrofa chromosome one was identified, and 21 significant SNPs associated with the three conformation traits were identified through multi-trait GWAS. Furthermore, three candidate genes related to sphingolipid metabolism and lysosome pathways were discovered.

This study identified lncRNAs and mRNAs in the follicles of Meishan and Duroc sows, revealing insights into the potential roles of lncRNAs in pig follicular growth and development.
