Summary: A simple substance was added as the third component to a composite material to improve filler dispersibility. A low molecular weight stearyl phosphonic acid was used as a modifier to obtain a highly dispersible composite. The addition of the third component resulted in better tensile properties and eliminated the difference in initial dispersion states through uniaxial stretching.

Summary: Two narrow-bandgap block conjugated polymers, PBDB-T-b-PIDIC2T and PBDB-T-b-PTY6, are designed and synthesized for single-component organic solar cells. These polymers exhibit better light harvesting, improved efficiency, low energy loss, and excellent stability in SCOSCs. Their structural relationship with binary counterparts provides a framework for further exploring molecular features impacting photovoltaic performance.

Summary: Despite the maturity of the technology, processing of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials remains challenging. This study investigated the effect of adhesion enhancement on material properties and found that the addition of a compatibilizer agent has minimal effect on modulus and yield stress, but significantly reduces strain-at-break. In-situ X-ray characterization methods revealed that the role of phase composition and morphology is more pronounced in deformation and failure mechanisms than the increased adhesion. These findings suggest a new route towards tougher fiber-reinforced composites with reduced complexity.

Summary: In this article, the fabrication and application of PP/MWCNT nanocomposite fiber veils as interleaves in single-polymer composites (SPCs) are demonstrated. Results show that incorporating MWCNT enhances the specific strength and thermal stability of the fiber veils, improving the mechanical properties of the composites. The multiscale SPC structure achieves better interfacial adhesion and mechanical performance.

Summary: The use of carbon nanotubes is a promising direction in materials science for improving the mechanical properties of polymers. The addition of single-walled carbon nanotubes to a polymer can significantly enhance its mechanical, electrical, optical, and structural properties. However, there is a limit to the improvement, and exceeding a certain content of nanotubes can lead to a decrease in mechanical properties.

Summary: In this study, polymer composites with record-high dielectric permittivity in both low-frequency range and X-band were successfully prepared by using Tuball carbon nanotubes as fillers and a simple preparation procedure. The specific structural features of Tuball nanotubes were attributed to the significantly high permittivity values.

Summary: The study examined polypropylene-based single-polymer composites (SPCs) utilizing APAOs as matrices and polypropylene fabrics as reinforcement. The composites exhibited good static and dynamic properties with optimal consolidation temperature between 120-140 degrees C, while stronger fabrics improved mechanical properties. APAOs widened the processing temperature window and the SPCs possessed numerous beneficial properties.

Summary: The study focuses on the design and synthesis of a brominated single-component polymer BrOD-TFB, which exhibits dual-emission and white light emission properties in solution and room-temperature phosphorescence in thin films. The dual-emission properties can be tuned by factors such as concentration, solvent polarity, and excitation energy. Controlling the formation and destruction of halogen-assisted interactions can initiate white-light emission in the single-component polymer, with potential applications in solid-state lighting and flexible displays.
