Summary: This contribution demonstrates an efficient strategy to synthesize well-defined functional polysiloxanes using phosphazene as an organocatalyst. Linear poly(dimethylsiloxane)s (PDMSs) with different end-groups were successfully synthesized by C3N3-Me-P3-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization (ROP) and subsequent end-capping reactions. The resulting PDMSs were characterized by various techniques and showed narrow distributions and well-defined structures.

Summary: The main goal of this research is to study the ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide in the presence of multifunctional alcohols in order to determine the optimal conditions for synthesizing star-shaped molecules with predetermined structures for biomedical applications. The study found that the polymerization rate and initiation rate of co-initiator's hydroxyl groups can vary significantly depending on the alcohol's structure and concentration. Various instrumental methods were used to prove the absence of cyclic, linear, and comet-like structures in the synthesized star-shaped PLLA. Additionally, DSC and WAXS analysis showed that branching limits segmental mobility of the PLLA chains and hinders crystallization of the star-shaped poly(L-lactides).

Summary: The study investigated the impact of different morphologies of ceria catalysts on the distribution of reaction products from glycerol solutions, finding that polyhedral ceria samples exhibited the highest methanol production. Surface area and acidity were identified as factors contributing to low glycerol conversion over cubic ceria. Rodlike and polyhedral catalysts produced a major intermediate, hydroxyacetone, with higher selectivity compared to cubic ceria, leading to increased methanol yields.

Summary: In this study, a novel cascade O-S ER/AAROP method was developed to obtain a well-defined hydroxyl-containing linear polythioether. The reaction mechanism was revealed by real-time monitoring, and the use of organic ammonium salt significantly improved the yield and molecular weight of the polythioether. This work presents a green strategy for the direct synthesis of linear poly(hydroxyl thioether)s from epoxides under mild conditions.

Summary: This paper describes the progress in precision polymerizations of specific N-alkylacrylamides and N,N-dialkylacrylamides to produce thermoresponsive polymers in aqueous media. Early research focused on synthesizing polyacrylamides with well-defined structures. Later studies explored the effects of polymer structure on thermoresponsive properties. The paper also discusses various polymerization methodologies and the synthesis and thermoresponsive properties of polymers with specific structures.

Summary: A biologically friendly approach using aqueous Activators ReGenerated by Electron Transfer for Atom Transfer Radical Polymerisation (ARGET ATRP) was proposed for the synthesis of biocompatible poly(glycerol monomethacrylate) (PGMA) under organic-solvent free conditions. This technique allowed for controlled polymerisation of glycerol monomethacrylate (GMA) and the synthesis of active protein-PGMA conjugates. The combination of ARGET ATRP and grafting-from strategy may open up new possibilities for nanomedicines based on protein-PGMA conjugates.

Summary: Oligofurans have attracted great attention because of their strong fluorescence, charge delocalization, and increased solubility. Here the authors show a bottom-up modular construction of chemically and structurally well-defined oligo(arylfuran)s by de novo synthesis of alpha, beta '-bifuran monomers and late-stage bromination, stannylation and subsequent coupling reaction.

Summary: In this study, photocurable (PGS-co-PEG)-M copolymers were successfully prepared by methacrylation of PGS-co-PEG. The methacrylation process enhanced the mechanical strength of the copolymers while reducing their bioadhesive properties. These photocurable copolymers have great potential for biomedical applications.

Summary: The use of polyether side chains to introduce amphiphilicity to conducting polymers has been applied to the synthesis of glycolated PEDOT. G-PEDOT exhibits improved electrochemical switching and electrochromic properties compared to PEDOT, making it a functional alternative for use in bioelectronics and electrochemical devices.

Summary: In this research, we successfully synthesized morphologically complex nanoframes with a mixture of frames and thin solid planes, known as walled-nanoframes. By controlling the chemical steps, we created a variety of Pt nanoframes, including cuboctahedral nanoframes and single-walled nanoframes. The synthesis of double-walled nanoframes, where two Pt single-walled nanoframes are overlapped with a discernible gap, resulted in enhanced catalytic activity and high-surface area, carbon-free, and volume-compact nanocatalysts.

Summary: This paper presents a rapid and label-free method for detecting amplified DNA from bacterial samples using polymer latex and widely available equipment. The visual change from a milky-white dispersion to a precipitated latex provides a clear indication of the presence or absence of amplified DNA. This method is of significant clinical importance for the rapid diagnosis of bacterial infections.
